Can't believe that annoying Joe Buck made the list. Dick Vitale is just as bad if not worse but at least he's at near the bottom of the pile and thankfully Billy Packer is nowhere to be seen.

Brent Musberger, Harry Caray, and Marv Albert should be higher. No way in hell should Bill Walton and Joe Buck make that list.

hmmmph....only Foster Hewitt made it from hockey? How about Danny Gallivan; Dick Irvin, Rene Lecavallier???

Glad to see the late, great Herb Score get a mention. His one-time partner, Tom Hamilton, who is still in the Indians' radio booth, is one of the best announcers I've ever heard - it would've been nice to see him make the list, bit oh well.

The following for me are the best. They always put the sports fan in the 'comfort zone', as I would describe it. When you would hear their voices on radio or TV, it seemed as if sportscasting is what they were born to do. In no particular order:

Jim Lampley
Mel Allen--Voice was made for the Yankees
Vin Scully--Voice was made for the Dodgers
Mel Allen--Cool southern drawl
Red Barber--Cool southern drawl
Lindsey Nelson (Twi-night double-header, right 'shere' on the 4th!)
John Madden ('Brett Favre......and Brett Favre.....yeah, hey, and Brett Favre...

) His take on things appeals to the 'non' regular fan.
Chris Berman (He could go all...the...way) 'Sherman Williams painted his way to the goal line!'
Phil Rizzuto ('Holy Cow!' What can I say?)
Harry Caray (Take me out to the ball game...)
Dwight Stones in Track and Field--Glib, but knowledgeable; does his homework.
Brent Musberger
Curt Gowdy (Had the Quintessential sportscaster voice, IMO)
Frank Gifford (Analytically good, and to the point)
Terry Bradshaw ('Down-home commentary; a fan's sportscaster)
Howard Cosell (Could spot his familiar voice a mile away)
Al Michaels (see Curt Gowdy)
Johnny Miller (The easy-going voice, perfect for golf)
Chris Schenkel (Could you picture anyone else that could make pro-bowling interesting?)
Bob Costas--Good vocabulary, an 'intelligent' sportscaster and one of the best sports interviewers around. Encyclopedic sports knowledge.
Don Criqui--A natural, like Costas
Jim MacKay--Best Olympic announcer ever! Saw the 'big picture'.
Ralph Kiner--Great post-game interviewer, besides play by play
"Dandy Don" Meredith--Great "football" voice.
