Default Will MTM EVER be on TV Again?

It has to be at least 5 years since TVLAND, or TBS or any other MAJOR network carried MTM. I know I can buy DVD's, but what is up with MTM on TV?? Anyone hear anything?

It sure is a bummer that MTM isn't on any big channel right now - it hasn't been on any of the local stations here in the Cleveland market in ages. Thank goodness we have at least the first 4 seasons available on DVD - and hope someday the rest will be released.

I watch it every Monday evening at 9 on the American Life cable channel, followed by Newhart.

Yes, that was a great show. I would love to see it on TV Land.

Does it look to you like they're running them unedited? It stinks that they only air one episode a week. I have most of seasons 5 and 6 unedited, but my season 7 is from TV Land with about 2 1/2 minutes cut from each episode. I'd like to record season 7 from American Life if they're unedited or at least with the original syndicated edits, but at this rate it's going to take another 2 years for them to get to season 7!

The TV Land edits are horrible too; they just hack a chunk of the show off right in the middle of a scene; like they put no thought into what is taken out.

I'm so glad I'm not alone on this, Larry! As I've been watching these shows I've been thinking, "This looks unedited!" Either the shows are unedited, or the edits are so clean that one hardly notices it! But how I do wish more than one episode a week would air!

My one gripe with American Life is how every few weeks it seems they backtrack and air an episode like "Love Is All Around" or "Today I Am A Ma'am" out of nowhere when the show should be in the second season (close to the third by now). Of course, I've noticed that this happens with Newhart, too, so it's not just an isolated case with our Mary!!!

I wish they aired Mary here in Canada. I really like to see seasons five to seven. Well, I have to buy season four first and watch that, but that's coming on Friday.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem likely with the direction TVL has gone, and the TV execs' misguided ideas of what younger viewers want.

Yes!

Back in 2003, at the First Annual TVLand Awards, they had "Mama" out there presenting an award, but first she went through this whole 'lecture' about the awfulness of television and here it is five years later and they are showing all that junk on THE same channel that was 'against it' (so to speak) those years ago!

BLEH! *sticks out tongue*

N@N sucks now, I remember watching this show as a little girl at 8 years old and loved it then. You can watch episodes online at fancast.com

Has anybody ever tried to petition Nick at Nite to put MTM back on?
I think they'd at least read/listen to complaints, as opposed to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, which just ignores them
That way, if TMTMS gets back on again, maybe a few board members can record Seasons 5-7 onto DVD and all the real fans can get a hold of them!
Just a thought...hey, I'm a dreamer

Was MTM an example of a great show that never did that well in syndicated reruns or on home video/DVD because it was perhaps, too cerebral for most audiences? What I mean is that most people don't want to think too much when they watch a sitcom. They more than likely want some warmth and familiarity with some laughs thrown in. This could explain why shows like I Love Lucy, The Golden Girls, Three’s Company, and now Friends have been better at living on from generation to generation.
