Personally, I LOVED her version of Amanda, but I couldn't figure why they kept the picture of London's Tower Bridge behind her credit when Amanda mutated from Catherine Oxenberg into frisky Karen Cellini.
P.S. Just found out there were forums for Dynasty and Dallas! LoL. |

Oooh - she was one of the worst actresses on TV! She was horrible! I can't believe they replaced Oxenberg (who was also challenged as a dramatic actress) with her...but apparently, Oxenberg walked out due to a salary dispute and they didn't want to kill her off.
Luckily, Cellini ended up back into oblivion once she left DYNASTY as well. |

During the Summer, Catherine Oxenberg demanded more money than Aaron Spelling was willing to give her, and she was dismissed. The problem was that the production of the show was very disjointed and disorganized. The right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing, especially with The Colbys having been added to the mix. If Spelling and co had checked with the writers, they likely would have said "don't bother replacing her, we'd run out of ideas for her anyway". But as it was, Karen Cellini had been a finalist for one of the roles on The Colbys. She didn't get the part, but when Oxenberg left, Spelling immediately suggested calling her up and telling her she was the new Amanda Carrington. The writers now planned to keep the Michael storyline, and see where it went. The disarray the show was in can be summed up by the fact that they kept the London Bridge in the credits, and simply replaced Oxenberg with Cellini, even though it didn't sound as if Cellini had never stepped foot in London. The first few weeks of shooting for Cellini were a disaster. She had no handle on the character, such as it was, and she was quite wooden and uncomfortable on camera. The day the second episode of Season 7 aired, it was announced she'd been dismissed from the show. Amanda didn't even get murdered, she just disappeared, never once to be mentioned again, even in the reunion movie. Her final appearance on the show was in the first week of January of 1987. |
