Default John Ritter Ignored Medical Advice According To Doctors

The three doctors fighting charges they mishandled actor John Ritter's medical treatment on the night he died have revealed the Bad Santa star ignored advice to see a heart specialist.

Ritter's widow Amy Yasbeck has already won a $12.5 million settlement from Los Angeles' Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, claiming her husband would still be alive if staff had taken a simple X-ray when the actor checked into the emergency room complaining of chest pains.

It was too late to save Ritter when doctors eventually realised he had a tear in a blood vessel and he suffered a massive heart attack in 2003.

Yasbeck is now suing the doctors who she claims bungled her late husband's treatment, but they maintain the actor himself was to blame for his death because he ignored medical advice he received in 2000.

The trio insists it will prove Ritter ignored the advice when the misdiagnosis case comes to trial in January.

The doctors' attorney Stephen Fraser tells America's the Globe, "It's not the doctors' fault."

Here's something on aortic calcification, which is what John's doctors told him about and told him to get taken care of.

Weird... I thought this was a thread I had already replied to. Well anyway, I found it very sad when John Ritter died. The acting world is much sadder without him. Whenever I unexpectedly see him in a show, it makes me sad, instead of happy that he's on.

In hindsight, now knowing that that he would die pretty soon, did John Ritter look unwell (especially by the start of Season 2)? He didn't just look out of shape (when compared to his Three's Company days at least) but really warn down and bloated.

It has since been theorized that John Ritter's fatal aortic condition may be hereditary. It's now believed that John's father, Tex Ritter may have also died from a similar ailment. And John's brother, Thomas had his own aorta scanned, and learned that a similar rupture that killed John was imminent.

But Tom Ritter had surgery to fix it. I'm pretty sure he had it like a DECADE ago!

If John listened to his doctors & took care of his health he could be alive too!

You have a link that says that's the advice he ignored? I'm not surprised though. He didn't age well at all. He had an appearance on some show in the 1990s when he was in his 40s & he was already starting to look a little bloated & somewhat unhealthy.

Something also tells me that John was a steak & beer kind of guy who didn't exactly eat well.

While some causes of aortic dissection are hereditary, here’s how you can reduce your risk:
  • Test your blood pressure regularly
Follow your doctor’s orders for managing your blood pressure
    Don’t use recreational drugs
Don’t smoke. But if you do, ask your doctor for recommendations of a smoking cessation program.

Alan Thicke was apparently also warned to do something about his heart just before he died.

It didn't say anywhere in the John Ritter special about ignoring the advice he was given.

Didn't that come out in the lawsuit not the special? I don't think they would attack John like that in a special unless he BLATANTLY ignored doctors by not showing up for a surgery or something.
