I remember this show from the early or mid 90s called "The Good Life" and I forgot the star's name but it also had some fat bald guy and Drew Carrey. They worked in an office and i forgot what they did though. All i really remember is that the main guy held up an "operation" game and said "who looks like this guy?" and then lets it down and tha fat bald guy's standing there and says "hey john." And another time he said "who worships a fat bald guy looking like this?" and as he lowers the buddah statue the fat bald guy is there and says "hey john"...good show, damn nbc and their cancellations.

Yeah, sort of, but who the star was is a mystery to me. All I remember was this geeky fat guy in glasses that turned out to be Drew Carey.

The star of the Good Life was a comic by the name of John Caponera. Drew played his single buddy and they worked on the loading dock of a secuity company (they sold locks and other security hardware). Drew's character (also named Drew, I'm sensing a trend here) was a more world wise .ladies man then the character he would later protray on his show. The other portly guy was another comic by the name of Monty Hoffman, who if i'm not mistaken has appeared on Drew Carey's sitcom a few times.

Caponera, the star of "The Good Life" got his start on "Star Search".
He appeared on "Drew Carey" once as a likeable new super-salesman who invited everyone to a party except Drew & Mimi, who decided to crash it. Turned out Drew HAD been invited, but not Mimi.' I would really love to see some old episodes of "Good Life". The one I remember is when Caponera broke his leg & couldn't coach his son's woebegotten little league team, so Drew took over. He shows up at Caponera's door with his son (jubilant from his team WINNING) and a babe on his arm. While Caponera stares at the 'odd couple', Drew replies "chicks love a winner!". |
