Who remembers the modern golden age of Disney cartoons in the late 80's through the early to mid 90's. I grow up in this time period. And that is my question, when did this era start to declinde, or end in your opinion?
It actully began in the mid 80's, 1985 to exact with Gummi Bears and to a lesser extent the Wizzles. Fine cartoons, and nothing against them, But the big break through show was in 1987 with Ducktales. That is the show that really put Disney back on the map. And those of you familer with this era, know the rest, it was followed by Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers, Talespin, Dawkwing Duck, etc. When it did it start to decline? Before I answer, I much make a note, I consider Gargoyles seperate from these shows, because it was very dramatic, and was geared towards a different audience, and it was one of the best written animated shows ever. Nice to see Avatar: The Last Airbender continue the tradition. (similar that the premese the main characters frozen for a long period time, 100 years and 1000 years repectively) Anyway back to the topic, for me it started to decline with Bonkers. It was not par on its predecissor shows. Though Quack Pack was pretty good, still not as good as the earlier shows from the era. I don't know if Disney would ever put on those types of shows again. Don't ge me wrong some of the stuff on Disney Channel and Toon Disney is good. Especially Kim Possible and American Dragon: Jake Long. But some of the stuff are crap, and I won't name them. |

The late 90s/early 2000s time period was probably the swan song for this Disney Golden Age.
