Default Why did Topanga change so much?

Hi, I'm fairly new to this board. I'm a big fan of BMW, I was wondering though, why did the producers have Topanga go from a really weird girl, to all of a sudden a perfectly normal girl by season 2?

She changed over the course of the first 4 seasons. Her transformation was complete in the season 4 episode "Hair Today Goon Tomorrow." If you dont have the DVD's get them. They explain alot of stuff about the show. Its really good.

I would assume they made her change so that Tapanga would be a good person for Corey to date.

Boy Meets World was never really the bastion of strong continuity to begin with!

I liked Topanga! I thought she was really pretty! Loved her and Cory together!

Cool

Topanga evolved as she grew up like all of us do. I like the way the writers allowed her to evolve. I thought it was very realistic.

She grew up? She was 12 than. It has nothing to do with continuity...

I think kids go through phases and change a lot. I had a friend who was a lot like Topanga. She changed a lot from middle school to high school.

Danielle Fishel didn't think teen girls could relate to hippie Topanga, so she asked the producers for Topanga to become more "all American girl".

Did Danielle say that herself in an interview or is that just your pov? If so, then cool. LOL.

^ThomasE, I read it in some teeny-bopper magazine years ago, but who knows how accurate those are. At any rate, I think it was the wrong decision for the character. I would have liked to see Cory try to keep up with off-the-wall hippie Topanga throughout high school/college.
