Hi all,
How many of these can you folks get? 1) Ted Bessell (Ann Marie's boyfriend Donald Hollinger in the comedy series "That Girl") spent about a year on "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." playing Gomer's pal Frankie Lombardi. But, he also appeared on an episode of "Gomer" prior to that, as a private about to get married. Gomer lost this guy's wedding ring, apparently in the dough with which the two of them were making loaves of bread in the camp kitchen. After they completely destroyed every loaf of bread in the place searching for the ring, it turned up in Gomer's pocket. What was Ted Bessell's character's name in that episode? 2) William Christopher ("M*A*S*H's" Father Mulcahy) spent a couple of years on "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C" playing Gomer's friend and bunkmate Pvt. Lester Hummel. He, too, appeared on an earlier episode of "Gomer" in a different role. Can anyone name that other character he played? 3) Barbara Stuart also appeared on an early episode of "Gomer" quite a while before she became Sgt. Carter's girlfriend Bunny. What was the name of that other character she played? 4) How many different ways did the character "Bunny's" name appear in the closing credits of "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C"? 5) What was "Duke" Slater's first name? (the character, not the actor) ------------------ Later, Art |

Trav,
Yes, on your answer to #3. Barbara Stuart was Hannah, "the Dragon Lady." Nice job! ------------------ Later, Art |

Ted Bessell's last name in the episode you refer to was "Purcell", but I can't quite recall what his first name was. (Could it have also been Frankie?)
By the way, there was another guy named Lombardi who served with Gomer while they were in basic training, but his first name was Joey. Do you think the two could possibly been related? |

I understand why Slater preferred to be called "Duke"...........with a first name like "Gilbert", I would, too.
