The greatest animated holiday special of all time returns to ABC-TV tonight at 8:00pm (E/P) when "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (1965) returns for its 4th year on the network. Set those recorders!

You'll be pleased to know the special will re-air Thursday, December 16 at 8:00pm (E/P), 7:00pm (C/M) on ABC Television.

I have the pre-recorded special on VHS. But there is one thing about a "Charlie Brown Christmas":

The original uncut telecast version featured sponsor plugs within the context of the film. During the main titile sequence we see snoopy tossing both Charlie Brown and Linus during the opening "Christmas Time Is Here" song. Charlie crashes into a tree as the main title credits are seen (as we have all been familiar with over the years). However, all current prints do not show us what happens to Linus...in the uncut version, Linus crashes into a Coca-Cola sign (indicating the show's sponsor). Also, after the final credits (while the Peanuts gang sing "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"), there is a subtitle that says "Merry Christmas from your local Coca-Cola bottler". Due to subsequent FCC laws precluding sponsor plugs in the context of children's programs, these two elements have been edited out of all current prints (even in the so-called "uncut" versions shown over the past three years on CBS (long before ABC bought the rights to the "Peanuts" specials)

When A Charlie Brown Christmas first aired on CBS on December
9 1965, The Beverly Hillbillies had the distinction of being the
first program preempted by this holiday special.

Yea its sad these stupid advertisers have to mock up shows,etc with thier spam!!!!!!!

IM KINDA GLAD MY VHS COPY DOESNT HAVE THAT GARBAGE!!!!!!!
