Sad Rest in Peace

How very sad. We used to watch his short-lived variety style show with his then wife, Gloria Loring. He was a charming man.

I'm shocked. Thoughts and condolences to one of the great song composers of all time.

That is so sad to hear of Alan Thicke's death. :-( I loved watching his work on "Growing Pains" as a kid (along with the rest of the cast.) I actually just recently finished watching the whole Growing Pains series on DVD, along with the reunion movies. I pray God's comfort for his family in this sad time, as well as the cast of the show and all else who loved him.

'Growing Pains' Stars Kirk Cameron, Joanna Kerns and Cast Remember Alan Thicke
'

Alan Thicke's TV family paid tribute to the late actor after his death on Tuesday night. The actor, best known for playing Dr. Jason Seaver on the long-running ABC sitcom, died of a heart attack in Los Angeles.

Kirk Cameron, who played Thicke's son Mike Seaver on 'Growing Pains,' took to his Instagram page to share his memories of working with his on-screen father.

"I spent Monday through Friday for seven important years with Alan Thicke as my 'TV dad,'" he captioned a photo of the two from the show. "I'm shocked and truly heartbroken today at the news of his death. Alan was a generous, kind and loving man. I am so blessed to have grown up with him. Chelsea and I send our love and prayers to his family tonight. We will cherish the memories... 'sharing the laughter and love.'"

Cameron's wife is Chelsea Noble, who played Mike's girlfriend on the long-running series.

Alan's "TV wife" Joanna Kerns also shared some kind words about Alan on Twitter, in response to actor Daniel Franzese tweeting his condolences to her.

Alan made me laugh everyday-usually at myself. Loved you dearly RIP old friend.

Ashley Johnson, who played youngest daughter Chrissy Seaver on the sitcom, also shared a photo with Alan on social media, but later deleted it.

"There is a sacredness in tears...They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love," she reportedly captioned the photo.

A rep for Jeremy Miller tells TooFab, "Jeremy loves Alan deeply. He has lost a father and is heartbroken."

From Leonardo DiCaprio

Alan was a devoted father, husband, friend and role model. He knew how to harness the power of the entertainment industry to be a positive influence in so many lives - including mine. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I had to work with Alan early in my career. He had tremendous class, a huge heart, and he taught me and so many others the valuable lessons about humility and gratitude. I've seen him a number of times over the years and when Alan Thicke walked in the room, quite frankly, no one was cooler. I miss him already - my thoughts and prayers are with the entire Thicke family during this difficult time.

Sad

He was the most famous person to ever come from Kirkland Lake, Ontario. And he was a man of many talents. Actor, composer, singer, talk show host. He will be missed. Alan Thicke

Default Alan Thicke's 'Growing Pains' Wife Joanna Kerns Writes Emotional Tribute: 'I Am Devas

http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-...ergnet_1348136

Quote:
"I loved Al," Kerns, 63, wrote in a statement to Too Fab. "I called him Al because it really bugged him. He thought it sounded like an old man's name. He hated it, but the cast loved it and unfortunately for him, it stuck."

"Alan loved everything youthful: women, sports, music and above all, his beautiful and talented sons, Brennan, Robin and Carter," she continued. "Alan was a true and loyal friend. As Maggie and Jason Seaver, we experienced more than a life-changing success together. When you pretend to love someone day after day, year after year, you see all their faults and foibles and learn to accept them as they are, separate from you, and there is a connection that happens that is hard to explain. I had that with Alan. Maybe that's what marriage should be, the ability to love without judgment and the strength to remain separate."

As Us Weekly previously reported, Thicke, 69, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 13, after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his son Carter.

"I am devastated by Alan's passing and will be for some time," Kerns wrote. "I used to joke, before I met my real husband, Marc, that Alan was my favorite daytime husband. At work we laughed all day, everyday at things Alan would come up with, usually at my expense. It was fun. Alan was fun and we all loved teasing each other. Alan kept me calm and when I'd start to get upset about something silly, he would set things straight, give me a big hug and very gently say, 'Maggie … don't be an *******.'"

"There was a sweetness and kindness to his humor. No one could make fun of Alan better than Alan. As an actor, that is a gift, and I truly believe he was underrated," she added. "So here's to my dear friend Al, may you rest in peace and may your angels be youthful, tall, buxom and witty. May they also be as gorgeous as all of your wives and as generous and clever as you."
