That's why she was able to pass for a guy when Jack was hiding from Furley oit was a girl, because of how tall she was

She would of been a lot better than Mary Cardoette. Mary Cardoette was PITYFULL on "Three's A Crowd". She couldn't act at all! Anyone would have been better than her. Joanna Kerns couldn't of done it though, wasn't she starting "Growing Pains" that year? Valerie Harper wouldn't been bad, she would of been alot better than pity-ful Mary Cardoette.

Growing Pains didn't premiere until after TAC was cancelled. It actually replaced TAC on the Tuesday night lineup in the fall of 1985.

Yeah I think I'm starting to remember that too because in the Fall '85 the 8-9pm hour block was Who's The Boss and Growing Pains.

I also agree Joanna Kerns would've been a big improvement for Vicki. Mary C. was plain & boring as Vicki. She obviously wasn't a very good actor either because she disappeared off the face of the earth after this show ended!

She was around a little for a good while after this show ended. Her last acting credit was in 2000.

A theory that I've heard is that when they were casting Vicky, the producers (and most likely John Ritter himself, as nice guy a reputation as he had) were looking for as bland and as non-threatening actress as possible. That's really when it just went off balance altogether. It's fairly well believed that Three's a Crowd failed because of Ritter's complete lack of chemistry with Mary Cadorette.

I come to think of it, now wonder if Rita Wilson, who played Agnes Platt in the "Alias Jack Tripper" episode from Season 8 would've been a better choice in the Vicky role than Mary Cadorette.

She seems more like a woman, who I could plausibly believe that a guy like Jack Tripper would immediately fall in love with instead of vanilla, dull as dishwater, Mary Cadorette.

Matching up Jack Tripper with Rhoda....who wouldn't want to see that? I could picture Jack making sexist jokes and Valerie's character making snappy comebacks, then they would fight, but in the end always love one another.
Incidentally, John Ritter before Three's Company, was on The Mary Tyler Moore Show as Reverend Chatfield, who officiated Ted and Georgette's wedding.

Let's do an age comparison, here are the dates of birth:

Valerie Harper 1939
John Ritter 1948
Anne Schedeen 1949
Julie Kavner 1950
Joanna Kerns 1953 (Feb.)
Bess Armstrong 1953 (Dec.)
Rita Wilson 1956
Mary Cadorette 1957

So just on that basis Joanna would've matched up pretty well. Joyce DeWitt's 1949 obviously is very close, sometimes brought up to hook up with Jack Tripper permanently.

Ok, so in my opinion, like it or not, these are my favorite of Jack’s girlfriends, interests, etc
in order as a top 3 that would have worked as 3AC love interest.
1. Lauree Berger, Up In The Air, just through she had best chemistry with Jack’s character
ever of all his love interests on show.
2. Claudette Nevins, The Older Woman, I know a little older but knocked it out of park
with character and chemistry.
3. Susan Walden, Hearing is Believing, character worked very well with Jack, great acting and
chemistry.

Honorable Mention - The Apartment, Ilene Graff, accomplished actress good role

Joanna Kerns didn't fit as the person to be paired off with Jack. I'm glad that they didn't chose her.
