lamont was the co-star....cal was just there by his own mistakes...maybe your right..cal was the dummy.

In my opinion Lamont added allot to the show (early seasons (with afro). It wasn't until the later seasons where he got boring. The ones where every time someone comes into the house the audience claps. I didn't care for the Lamont character then only because he really didn't do anything.

Fred called him a dummy to be funny, get it! or when Lamont did things that Fred thought only and dummywould do get it!!

As a confirmed "Sanford and Son" junkie, I will say this. Of course "Sanford" doesn't measure up BUT it is still fred Sanford and some Fred is better than no Fred.......you big dummy!!!!
