In the comic books, Barbara "Batgirl" Gordon wore quite tall yellow-gold boots. Why the stark difference in the TV series, one may only speculate. I would guess that the short boots as seen in the photos were easier for the costume designers to come up with.

Yvonne Craig's costume overall was altered from the comic design as far as color, seen in the glove color etc.
