The actress, best known for her titular role in the 1970s satirical soap opera Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, died of natural causes at her home in Manhattan. Her controversial SNL appearance—which featured an opening monologue mimicking a breakdown and a locked dressing room—made her the first host effectively banned from returning by creator Lorne Michaels. |
