Lifetime showed repeats of Nurses in 1996. They still own the episodes. However it only ran from 1991-1994, so I doubt we will ever see it again considering that no cable outlet shows repeats of Murphy Brown which ran from 1988-1998.

Just out of interest, Empty Nest airs here in Australia at 1.40am on free-to-air TV.

can be found here.

Question
I was wondering how I can go about purchasing videos of episodes from my favorite series that I watch on the Superstation every day. Can you help?

At 11/11/99 8:20 AM we wrote - Thanks for your email. Unfortunately TBS Superstation does not own the rights to sell any series episodes on video, we only have rights to broadcast.

You can try an internet search for more information on purchasing episodes of your favorite series. Also try calling these major video retailers, they do offer some episodes for some series on video.

TimeLife Video 800/545-2465
Coumbia House 800/638-2922

Thanks for watching the Superstation!!

There you go most tv stations do not own the tv show they broadcast only owns the right to air them.

Empty Nest has not been reran on cable or a local station since 2000. Its run on syndication began in 1993. It had previously been reran on TBS and WGN and there has been no consideration of a DVD release.

Empty Nest was at the end of the day, arguably never more then a mediocre at best, time slot filler show that happened to pick up the Golden Girls' audience on Saturday nights.

I enjoyed the first three seasons or so but it got to where it was all "Carol! Carol! Carol!" which got old fast. After the character of Barbara left it really went downhill

I felt this way too back when it first aired. But now in syndication, Carol, Carol Carol is funny as heck to me.

To the main thread title, the show airs on Over the Air Sub station Laff.

That poster who said that Empty Nest wasn't "good enough" to be on a channel, and had "no consideration" for a DVD release is so full of themselves. Anyway, it's a great show I think. It isn't "time filler", it's even better than "The Golden Girls" I'd say. It never went downhill for me. Sure, some episodes are clunkers, but all shows are like that. That poster who said "no consideration" for a DVD release obviously doesn't like the show, and has never watched it because he/she never liked it and never watched it.

While I enjoyed the first four seasons the most, I would like to see the entire series released on DVD as it's much better than the garbage on today. Park Overall always cracked me up on here. I hope Laff TV continues to air this show as I don't think it will ever see a legitimate DVD release.

I'm just now receiving Laff, and really enjoying Empty Nest! It's been so long since I've seen this series. Dinah is pretty hot!

Empty Nest was among the Top 10 shows in the ratings it first three seasons, and Richard Mulligan was Emmy-nominated thrice and won once:
  • Season One = #9
  • Season Two = #9
  • Season Three = #7
  • Season Four = #23
  • Season Five = #48
  • Season Six = #66
  • Season Seven = #118

And yet, it just wasn't successful in syndication despite the fact that it ran for at least 170 episodes.

From Wiki:

Quote:
"The series was unsuccessful when it was first syndicated, running in local syndication from September 1993 to September 2000, shortly before the death of star Richard Mulligan. During this time, Empty Nest aired on TBS from September 9 to December 6, 1996, and on WGN from September 9, 1996, to March 26, 1999, with both stations airing the series as part of the regular syndication run (both TBS and WGN were superstations).[9][10][11]

In the subsequent decade, the series did not air on American television. Hallmark Channel, which also licenses the rights to The Golden Girls, picked up the rights to the show in early 2011 and aired it from February 26 to June 26 of that year, but eventually removed it altogether.

Upon its launch on April 15, 2015, the new digital sub-channel Laff began airing the series and continued until March 30, 2018."
