Default Cecily Strong was reportedly pulled from SNL's cold open

https://www.thedailybeast.com/cecily...main%20unclear.

Saturday Night Live alum Cecily Strong made a surprise appearance at Studio 8H over the weekend, but after playing Rep. Elise Stefanik in run-throughs of the show's cold open, The Wrap reports she got swapped out for cast member Chloe Troast for reasons that remain unclear.

"Uncomfortable" Cecily Strong reportedly pulled out of SNL cold open

Cecily Strong Reportedly Backed Out of SNL's Controversial Elise Stefanik Sketch at Last Minute: She Felt 'Uncomfortable' NBC's latest episode of Saturday Night Live nearly had a very different actor playing Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) in its cold open.

Fans of Saturday Night Live: I feel Cecily Strong could have been a success in streaming and movies. Is she just over it?

Q: Fans of Saturday Night Live: I feel Cecily Strong could have been a success in streaming and movies. Is she just over it?

“Over it?”

probably not.

Is her career likely going to cool down going forward?

Probably.

Why?
  1. She’s over 40 - Hollywood views most women over 40 as “Mommy/Grandma/Spinster Aunt/Old Lady” and slots them into those roles. While Strong is an attractive woman, he is over 40 and that isn’t going to help.
  2. She has an indeterminate “look” - It’s not clear if Strong has relatively recent Latino or SW Asian roots, but she clearly “darker” than most White Americans. This is a problem in a Hollywood that is still quite racist as the inability to classify her means that she would miss out on any number of roles.
  3. She’s pretty bland - While she outraged conservatives with an pro-choice character and sketches, had they waited around for a few minutes, they would have noticed that she quickly went to non-threatening as that’s her repertoire. She’s not controversial and she’s noticeably “tame” despite her political leanings.
  4. She doesn’t seem to have what it takes to be a leading performer - Even SNL noticed this as she rarely was the lead in the sketches she performed. She seemed (and seems) to have been a character actor and that’s a position that’s already well-stocked with employees.
  5. She’s taller than average - While she claims to be 5′8″ tall it’s pretty clear that Strong is probably 2–3 inches taller than that. Given that most male Hollywood actors are between 5′5″ and 5′8″, she would tower over them or look them in the eye and that’s one of the few things that’s still not sought after in the industry, even today.

Strong seems to have left SNL to have a child and because she felt that her career there was slowing down.

She may well obtain a role on a popular network or streaming series in the future.

However, she’s unlikely to become a major star this “late” in her life.
