His reply above is a perfect example of what I mentioned in another thread--any reference to a TV show, song or album, or movie requires a mention of some analog source.
It gets old. |

It’s like he’s on a crusade to convert us all to using antiquated technology.

Okay, dude, if a low-resolution, degraded, washed-out pan-and-scan VHS copy of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in 240 lines on a CRT TV is what you like, more power to you.
I don’t get it, but it’s your prerogative. The rest of us moved on from VHS and CRT 20, 25, and 30 years ago and never looked back. You’re never going to convince anyone to go back to inferior, antiquated and no longer supported formats. Meanwhile, for the rest of us, here’s a 2160p presentation of the movie’s parade scene from the 4K UHD Blu-ray edition, in its original, widescreen theatrical aspect ratio, sourced from a 4K scan of the original camera negatives. |

You don't need to show most of us VHS video -- we've seen it, we have it. It's inferior.
If you have a large collection of it and you enjoy it--great! Just don't expect nearly everyone else to agree. |

Now it’s 27 years later and the world has moved on. TVs are in 4K now, and all broadcast and major cable networks broadcast in either 720p or 1080i high definition, with select sporting events available in 2160p 4K. Streaming services have a wide selection of 2160p 4K and an even wider selection of 1080p HD movies and TV series. Blu-rays offer 1080p and 2160 4K, as well. You can now watch a theatrical movie, in the comfort of your own living room or bedroom (or even on a bus or plane), in its original aspect ratio and a virtually unlimited color palette. You’re no longer beholden to the 240-line, cropped pan-and-scan, or RGB-limited presentation of VHS. I’m not here to yuck Dude’s yums when it comes to analog media. If it floats his boat more than modern formats do, that’s great. I mean, I don’t get it but I don’t have to. More power to him. However, it does feel like a threadcrap when he brings it up constantly, like in this thread and in the Wizard of Oz thread he recently bumped from a four-month dormancy just to announce his displeasure, that a diginet won’t be airing the film in analog 16 years after TV stations in the United States shut off their analog signals. It feels like he’s trying to portray himself as better or smarter than the rest of us sheeple who use modern technology. He’s enlightened and we’re all rubes who believe Mars is red. It gets tiring. |
