Supriya Ganesh Leaves "The Pitt"; Ayesha Harris Promoted to Regular
Supriya Ganesh Exits "The Pitt" as Dr. Mohan; Ayesha Harris Promoted to Series Regular for Season 3
by Rosy Cordero April 2, 2026 HBO Max’s critically acclaimed medical drama "The Pitt" will look a bit different when Season 3 premieres in 2027. Supriya Ganesh will not return as Dr. Samira Mohan, the character she’s played since Season 1. This should come as no surprise to fans watching Season 2, as Mohan has really struggled with finding the balance between her personal life and her work, as well as figuring out what her future as a medical professional will look like. She has been undecided about what her focus should be, with Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) at one point suggesting she might be good in geriatrics. While Mohan wasn’t against the idea, she really was lost for most of the season, and it’s probably best that she figures out where and what she would thrive on that would benefit the most from her specialties. At least one thing was abundantly clear this season: she needs a break from the emergency room. Ayesha Harris, who has recurred as night shift resident Dr. Parker Ellis since Season 1, has been promoted to series regular. https://deadline.com/2026/04/the-pit...s3-1236772328/ |

"The Pitt's" Noah Wyle and Creator R. Scott Gemmill Explain Supriya Ganesh's Exit after Season 2
by Marc Malkin April 12, 2026 “The Pitt” star Noah Wyle and creator R. Scott Gemmill are explaining the surprise exit of Supriya Ganesh, who plays senior resident Dr. Samira Mohan on the series, after Season 2 “It’s an inevitability that’s going to happen every season with this show because as writers we’re hard pressed to figure out what a lapse of time we can have and keep most of the ensemble together realistically,” Wyle told me at PaleyFest’s “The Pitt” screening and panel Sunday night in Los Angeles. “Emergency rooms have a high revolving door. As always, we try to bring in new characters or promote from within as we go through these cast changes and try to keep the storylines fresh, but obviously Supriya has been a huge part of our show since the beginning. Dr. Mohan is a beloved character, and I love playing with her and working with Supriya, and we wish her all the best in her next endeavors, and we’re going to miss her,” Wyle continued. Gemmill said while walking the red carpet at PaleyFest: “It’s sort of the nature of the show. Unfortunately, the way the medical profession works, you come in, you learn, you move on, and we want to try and be as truthful to that process as possible. So we’re going to turn over our cast. But I think it’s a great launching pad for people and that’s the best we can do.” https://variety.com/2026/tv/columns/...-2-1236719896/ |

Supriya Ganesh Opens Up about "The Pitt" Exit: "I'm Going To Treasure All The Memories"
by Ryan Schwartz June 4, 2026 Speaking with the Los Angeles Times alongside co-stars Isa Briones and Sepideh Moafi, Supriya Ganesh reiterated that their exit was a "creative decision" made by executive producers R. Scott Gemmill, Noah Wyle, and John Wells. "They work with such intention on the show and make all the choices that they make for that reason, so I think it's better to ask them for answers," Ganesh said. "I'm going to treasure all the memories I had working with these two and everyone else. It's been so great just getting all the love from the fans. I feel sad for them, too, that they won't get to see this character." https://www.tvline.com/2187331/supri...xit-statement/ |
