theres a thing called "folie a deux" normally when theres a couple and one of them starts declining mentally, you'd expect the other to notice it and get help... yet often, instead they become the same.

there was an old couple near where my parents live who went like that during the pandemic, they'd order groceries online, things from amazon.. get them then claim they never did, yet the packaging and bags were on top of the trash! they'd dry clothes outside when it snowed, yet inside when it was august...

maybe thats what it was, but whoever it was, it was within the family, didnt they change phone number 5 times, but the "stalker" always knew the number?
Not mental illness as such, but a character trait like Beverly Allitt & others with Munchausen by proxy. The woman who pretended she was in the Twin Towers on 9/11 & became president of the survivors network, the multiple men who faked being a concentration camp survivor-writing books, like the woman heading up an association, even speaking in parlimanet & getting away with it for decades in some cases.

Would still be interested if Bill went into a home before his death & when it happened, apparently Dot lived there until her passing in 2010, 11 years after Bill passed. If he did in the mid 1990's it might explain more why the last recorded incident was 1994.

I actually know really well the case of alicia head "the woman who wasn't there" she pretended to have been in one of the towers, even fabricated a story about a non-existent fiance, she met giuliani.....

But what i would say is that theres a huge difference between someone like that and people like the whackers (if they were infact doing it to themselves)

I mean when something happens like 911, it's the biggest story in the world and anyone involved gets a huge amount of sympathy, someone like alicia head inserted herself into the story to get herself attention and maybe even love. it became her entire personality. theres a whole thing with her childhood in barcelona, things with her parents which clearly lead to this..

yet i think that although she was crazy, she wasn't the type of crazy where deep down she actually believed her lies, i mean i don't think she sat alone on some random wednesday evening and thought "how lucky i was to get out the WTC alive" right? i mean when the story came out she was lying, out of shame she fled back to spain...

Yet in the case of the whackers, IF they did it to themselves, then i'd have to believe that it wasn't like that, that it wasn't for sympathy, a game.. but they had gone so deep into mental illness that they actually believed it was someone else.

My take would be that either Dorothy or Bill resented getting old. They resented no longer being the center of attention in the family and did what they though would bring them maximum attention and sympathy. And for a time it worked, it even got them on nationally broadcast television.

Naa, i mean theres zero evidence that bill or dorothy held some grand "position" within the family, they there either resented losing or had in the first place.

People get old all the time, they don't do this for years and years to get attention.

another thing is, theres no way that one of them could do this for so long, so many years and the the other not know or find out, it's too "convenient"

i'm not against the idea that the whackers did this to themselves, but if they did, they were both in on it.

Mother and father, famously unimportant in a family hierarchy.

Well the sarcasm is lovely, but it still doesn't explain a theory you've plucked out of thin air that really doesn't add up.

Mothers and fathers don't suddenly lose their status in the family ahaha, they don't get pushed out to sea anymore like the vikings did and left to die. i mean you've said it yourself with your wonderful wit, the are important, so why "drop them"?

your idea that they were suddenly important in the family dinamic, then weren't, whats that based on?

so let's say they were dropped.. which doesn't make sense, but ok... thats when one of them goes on for years inventing the story that they are being harrassed by a maniac, nobody noticed the other doing it and it went as far as unsolved mysteries, because one of them wanted some attention, after mysteriously losing their status?

try explaining youself next time, instead of some crappy theory that doesn't add up mixed with sarcasm..
