The tagline from the old Batman series is apropos in this case, "the worse is yet to come". It obvious where all this is headed, after the 2029 season the NFL has an opt out in all broadcast contracts and it's a certainty that will be exercised. After that almost anything is possible, including streaming platforms sharing in the Sunday package, no in-market home games on broadcast tv, more postseason games behind paywalls. Anything. The NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was asked if the Super Bowl would ever be streamed exclusively, the NFL commissioner answered: “Certainly not in my time". That's the good news, here's the bad news, Goodell turned 65 last February, he'll be 70 when the opt out can be exercised!

The NFL is an unregulated monopoly that gets more and more out of control with each passing year. It is for all practical purposes engaged in legalized racketeering, and that needs to be stopped. Congress has to address the mess they helped create over half a century ago, it can only be curtailed with government intervention.
