I think any suggestion of Matlock 2024's "fate being sealed" is it not being on the CBS Fall 2026 schedule and its third season likely having an order of fewer than 16 episodes. I did see its omission from that Fall schedule as an indication of Matlock 2024 being "in the doghouse" for the 2026-27 broadcast season (as indicated by my thoughts on the announcement of that Fall schedule), especially given its top-five viewership rank in its first season.. A perfect way to really put it in danger is to give Cupertino a full season of 20-plus episodes.
