What are some artists that are were both more popular and less popular than they are commonly thought of?

Ashley Monroe is the first person who came to my mind. What makes her popular is her connection to Miranda Lambert when they do their albums under their Pistol Annies name.

P.S. 2006 is when Ashley first started releasing solo material. Sadly, it never got as much attention compared to her material with Miranda which of course came later on.

The Lovin’ Spoonful were very popular but I don't think they are really thought of as such nowadays.
