Agreed! Perhaps having a shi**y personality and disposition makes one age badly; which is why Betty White looks sooo great at 96(soon to be 97-God Bless Her!)

Just saw some of National Lampoon's European Vacation and Christmas Vacation last night on AMC.

It's amazing how far Chevy Chase has fallen! Next to the Naked Gun & Airplane movies and maybe 1 or 2 others those Vacation movies were the best!

I like Chevy Chase in "Community." He's one of these actors that I knew was very famous but I never saw him in anything until this sitcom, except for some SNL clips or a few moments of his movies. To read about how difficult he has been is very sad, and it's not surprising to read that he had a tough childhood, despite coming from a wealthy family. That is probably at the core of his personality defects, even at his advanced age. Sometimes he comes across as haunted by his past.

Somewhere along the line, Chevy Chase stopped being funny and just became a bitter old man. I think that talk show that he did back in the '90s, killed whatever credibility he had left.

Chevy Chase was once the coolest man in America — the breakout star of Saturday Night Live and the face of iconic comedies like Caddyshack, Fletch, and National Lampoon’s Vacation.

But then, everything changed.

This video looks at the rise and fall of Chevy Chase, the turning point that reshaped his career, and why his trajectory from the 1980s to the early 2010s still sparks debate today.

In the 80s, Chevy Chase was at the top of Hollywood, but as time went on, many stories came to light that sent his career on an endless, inevitable, downward spiral. This video explores his fall from grace.

From launching verbal tirades at writers to allegedly slapping fans, the video also explores the experiences of others who interacted with Chevy. You’ll see perspectives from director John Carpenter and writer Dan Harmon (from the TV show Community), as well as many actors, like Martin Short, Steve Martin, Donald Glover and Joel McHale.

If you love comedy and grew up in the 70s, 80s, or 90s, you probably know something about Chevy Chase. This deep dive explores him further.
