That could be a possibility. I just never believed it to be Bill. Simply because you don't expose yourself on national TV like that. A family member that wasn't interviewed I can see, but them themselves I couldn't see.

Who knows, really. I don't know what to make of the guy who was using the phone that struck her. Could be a coincidence, possibly. But everything else could tie into it being someone close to them. Always finding a phone number that changed, etc.

The fact that things seemingly stopped once the segment aired probably means it scared whoever off.

I honestly believe this was a family trying to push them into a retirement home then sell the house.

But can you imagine if this whole time it actually was a stranger tormenting this old couple for a decade. That would be utter INSANITY.

If that's what happened, the family member who did it has ice running through their veins. But, we have seen worse on UM (Cheryl Holland is the first example I think of)

If that's the case, the family member failed miserably. Because it seems they stayed in that house until they passed.

IIRC, one of their daughters had continued to live there for years after both of them had passed away.

Oridinary, old school, practical people can crave for attention, it's not just the eccentrics. Mrs. Wacker seemed rather eager to share every little detail of the story.

I don’t know. Scaring your parents into a retirement home is one thing. But traumatizing them into one is a whole new level. Ransacking their home over and over for years and years and hiring a man to beat your mother in the back of a head with a hammer (mind you, she had just returned from the hospital after having heart surgery)…I just don’t see it.

What money is going to be left when they’ve had to spend it all on therapy from the trauma they induced? And it’s not like retirement homes are cheap either.

I doubt it. There just isn't enough to convince me of that. Is it possible? Sure anything is. But I always believed them, just a gut feeling.

Watched this segment today, probably for the 945,198th time in my life. I do tend to agree that family were involved, or maybe a neighbor or friend that was (in his/her mind) “sleighted” somehow. I’m not at all an expert on the facial characters of liars but Peggy Hoover’s blinking was interesting. Probably nothing though.

We know by now that UM tended to leave lots of information out of segments, usually for time constraints but once in a while because the story was more interesting without it. So we really don’t know what feuds might have been happening at the time with or within the Wacker family. But if the perp could get the couple’s new phone numbers and chuck notes unseen onto their porch during homemade stake-outs, it had to be someone close. It’s unfortunate that we don’t know if the harassment ever stopped.

As I recall.. She had some coke bottle glasses. The blinking could be a result of eye problems.

Not that I disagree with you.. I've always suspected if it wasn't Bill, it was someone close.

This is one of my favorite segments, but hard to watch at times because I think of my grandparents. Not that anything like this ever happened to them, but if it had, I'd be like a mother bear.

The motive still baffles me. Unlike L'Enfant, where the motive seems political from what I've read.
