Eek Drugs

Wow I did not know both kids did drugs.

Spoiler Alert Spoiler Alert For those who plan to read Kathy Garver's book

Anissa

Anissa turned 18. I went to her eighteenth birthday party,It was held at her mother's house. Anissa looked happy and relaxed. She was surrounded by friends. She blew out the candles on her cake. Paula,(Anissa'a mother) took me aside at the party and asked if I would call Anissa and spend some time with her. She feared Anissa had gotten in with the wrong crowd, who were taking drugs. I told her I was going to Virgina the next day to appear as Eliza Doolittle in the musical stage show My Fair Lady for a six week run.
As soon as I returned I would get together with . I learned of her death in Virginia. The announcement was heartbreaking. Anissa was 18 years old.
Anissa was creamated and her ashes spread over the Pacific Ocean near her home.

Johnny
Unfortunately ,like Anissa, Johnny got hooked on drugs and alcohol.
He spent and lost all his money. Penniless and almost homeless in Los Angeles his family decided to do a drug intervention. They told him either get off drugs or we are divorcing you as a family. He got off drugs .Taking classes and attending rehab, Johnny was then able to get a drug counseling certification so that he could advise others on how to live without drugs and alcohol. Johnny survived and is helping others to live a clean and sober life.

Wow I never knew about Johnny. Also Anissa I did. I did not know her mom confronted Kathy.

Confused Hmm

I never heard that Jody was involved with drugs either. I wonder if he's happy to have been outed like this, if true.

At any rate, it's been 45 years since the show went off the air, how do you make a living for all the rest of your life dwelling on drugs. It's amazing how some "stars" seem to enjoy making a career out of their own bad personal decisions in life. This is not a comment on Johnny, necessarily, but to all those "celebrities" who after they're out of the limelight continue to forever identify themselves as victims of one self-inflicted malady or another. I must then commend Johnny for NOT turning this into his new identification. Up until now I never heard of Jody & drugs, IF true.

Kathy didn't out Johnny Whitaker (Jody). I've heard him talk about his past drug problem in more than one interview.

America loved her as the sweet little girl clutching Mrs. Beasley on Family Affair.

But behind the cameras, Hollywood taped down her body to keep her a child — then discarded her the moment she grew up.

On her 18th birthday, she gained access to the fortune she earned…and used it to fund the overdose that ended her life.

This is the tragic story of Anissa Jones — the child star who tried to kill the image that destroyed her.

It seems like those child actors who have a second act after hollywood no longer wants them have a much better go of it.

Kathy had college and a plan to use that education and so did Ronne Troup.

Anissa's birthday was in March and she died in August.

KG's claim is uh... unsubstantiated.
