I know ME does well, but do they have Friends, Seinfeld money?

Getting those 2 back on national broadcast TV would be big.

METV is about shows that were very popular, have done well in syndication, and have produced around 150 or more episodes. Murder She Wrote might be a possibility, it would fit beautifully behind The Golden Girls with Mason moving to midnight. It might also be used for two showings (like Mason) with the other running at 11am.
Also Seinfeld and Friends ended their runs OVER 20 years ago. As I said in another thread, when Nick at Nite launched in 1985, some of their retro shows ended less than 20 years prior. Heck when TV Land launched in 1996, one of their shows was Hill Street Blues which ended its run EIGHT years prior.

Wouldn't be too surprising if they eventually did, especially with Andy Griffith's case as Catchy did a weekend binge of it not too long ago.

I think TAGS will remain on METV through 2026. I think there's a chance of it showing up in another daypart, 8am-9am would be the most logical. I can't see anything like that happening until the 4th quarter of the year at the earliest. Beaver on Catchy Comedy is a definite possibility.

i think yeah. TAGS well be still on through 2026. i think if they get rid of it. they had to move to catchy. so. i dont think that TAGS well be gone from the lineup because of high ratings

This could be deja vu, like when TV Land launched. I'm not sure how many places Catchy is available, but it's not here, for instance.

So just as Nick at Nite wanted to update itself in the late 1990s, and they successfully launched TV Land, MeTV could be doing much the same thing. Catchy exists, but it needs a boost. So it could become the next tier down; Beaver, possibly Bewitched, etc. end up there; some possibly low-rated b/w stuff like Donna Reed disappear. MeTV looks at the way it happened for Nick, and says, we'll do it right. We won't end up with networks on autopilot like Nick and TV Land are now, biding their time until failure.

For starters, they could try to get Catchy on a national feed like MeTV is.

Like it or not, that show is damaged goods now. I know it airs on TV One (cable) and TheGrio (OTA/digital), but most networks don’t want to touch it with a ten-foot pole.

Yeah, I coined it the TV Land expressway, Raymond is the show that reimages the network. Golden Girls is a perfect show for the transition, done in the 80's with legacy talents that the baby boomer generation is comfortable with. METV average viewer age is around 70, the network wants the average age to be closer to 60. When Nick at Nite began in 1985 the midway point of the baby boomer generation born in 1955 was 30. By 2000 that individual was 45, the network wanted that number closer 30 than 50. Same thing here, in 2015 that individual was now 60 that was the METV audience, in 2025 that individual was 70, they want that average age closer to 60.

One of the problems Catchy has is the fact that cable systems are reluctant to add any more stations to the basic cable line-up. This is their least profitable tier, the customer that continues on that tier is more interested in good reception of over the air stations at a reasonable price point than a large channel selection. In the early days of diginets they were regularly added, now that's no longer the case.

The Cosby Show is complicated and that was before the all the scandals. The show underperformed in syndication. It had a great run in the 80's that's for sure, it was the ultimate feel good show, not only of that era but maybe of all time. Looking at it today, it really wasn't that funny, it was kind of full of itself, and to be honest could be a bit on the boring side. The next issue is not just a Cosby Show issue but spills over to all family shows, the audience watching METV is 60 and beyond, there is very limited interest in watching a show focused children and teenagers. So if things had been different, maybe the show runs on Antenna TV from time to time, maybe once a week on Sunday mornings on METV, but not a big player.

Cosby when it was added to N@N, it (for the time) gave the network its best ratings ever. Also, I think it was still shown in local syndication in NYC in 2014. I know when I moved to Southwest Florida in 2006, that show was shown on one of my local stations.

That might have been for a short period of time, but overall it did not perform well in most markets. At time it went into syndication it was the highest cost per episode buy in history, the performance metrics did not justify the cost.
