She is the MIL from hell. I am in no way sympathizing with Paul Pollis BUT Imagine if that was your life (before cell phones were ubiquitous so you have to hear your landline ringing basically all the time). On day one I’d look like Jack at the end of The Shining if my MIL did that.

I don’t think he’s innocent at all, that clean house thing to me really hurt him and made him sound bad. The issues are 1) no body and 2) no proof. I don’t think the kids know what happened, but the girl was clearly coached.

This Charlotte Pollis case is obviously one of the more notable ones in the series. Mother/Wife disappears without telling anyone where she was/what she's doing; no trace of her is ever found; her purse is left at the home, when her husband says she never leaves the house without her purse; husband is the prime suspect; suspicious events surrounded the disappearance, but no real physical evidence - just circumstantial.
It seems evident that PP was hiding something in the backyard shed. If he wasn't, why did he allegedly get so bent out of shape when Charlotte's family asked to see what was in there?! Was Charlotte's body (or other incriminating evidence, i.e. bloody clothes) in the shed?! If so, it was almost certainly moved at a later time. Did PP's parents help him clean up the crime scene, if there was one?! It seems they might have. The suspicious blood stain found in the trunk of the car didn't seem like it was enough to convict anyone; but, this was suspicious none-the-less. I found PP to be as cool as a cucumber when being interviewed; very little emotion & was very matter of fact. Interesting. |

PP got away with murder, although I would not take the word of a small child that "Daddy put Mommy in black trash bags" as gospel. |

There is something "off" about Paul Pollis. That's for sure. However...............for a guy who had a sloppy life afterwards and got in trouble with the law, he doesn't strike me as a guy who could orchestrate a murder. Considering he has a list of arrests and trouble with the law since 1994, I can't see how the biggest crime of all would be one he would get away with. And to have no evidence left behind. To be stupid enough to not make it look like she got up and left by leaving her purse and such behind. I would have made it look like that if anything if I had killed her. Or even make it look like a robbery.
One thing I'll say, Charlotte's mother (same name actually, Charlotte) would make me go crazy. Calling 10-14 times a day? For what? How Paul didn't kill them first is a miracle in itself. But things like footprints in the snow going to the shed is not evidence in my mind. I have those too going towards my shed. I could see Charlotte wanting to ditch that crazy family she had, but to be gone for 29 years without a trace? I don't buy it. She's dead, but just how is the question? Interesting to note Layla Nagi, Paul's daugther who is using her mother's maiden name on Facebook, has turned out to be a drop dead gorgeous woman. She appears well adjusted, although social media makes it hard to tell. She has a couple of pictures of her mother up there with the assumption that she's in heaven. So she assumes she's gone, and I suspect that she thinks her father did it. Her brother, Aden Pollis, is on her friends list as well as much of the Nagi family. Paul is not among her friends, but Aden and Paul are friends on Facebook. Paul is engaged to a woman named Kathryn Foley. They all seem to be living in Ohio still. To not have a paper trail here is strange. Just things like a tool shed having a lock on it and a neighbour seeing him park his car up to the house is not anything concrete. I think Paul most likely did it, but for the life of me how can there not be more to it evidence-wise? No blood, nothing. Carrying Charlotte to the trunk would take some help. Possibly his parents, but then again his mom looked weak and old and I am not sure about his dad. The question is why? If he did it, then why? |

I am bumping this thread. Because I watched it recently. So they all agree Charlotte is not feeling well that Friday night. She comes home, Paul's parents are babysitting and it is 1:25am or so I believe. She calls her mom and tells her she's home. So it isn't as if this is Paul's testimony, this is her mother confirming that she was alive at 1:25am. By the next morning around 9am or so Charlotte's mother calls asking for her. Paul says she is sleeping, which makes sense since she was up late and was sick. I have no problem with that. If Paul is telling the truth on that, then he is telling the truth about pretty much everything else I think. That's the key, that phone call with his mother in law. Why is that important? Because it is daylight, his kids are presumably awake as well and I doubt a murder happens right at that point. There would be children as witnesses, it would be impossible to dispose a 300lb. woman's body in broad daylight too.
So my thought is whether or not Paul is telling the truth right there at 9am. If he isn't, then I think Charlotte is dead by his account. Maybe an argument happens and she is hit too hard, and since his parents are either still at the house or easy to access he has them help him out. You can probably dump a body easier in the middle of the night. But come on, it was not in the shed. Two footprints mean the guy is harboring his wife's BODY in the shed? No, Charlotte's family was nuts and I can almost see why Paul got mad at them talking about the shed since it had nothing to do with anything. But there is no blood, no drag marks, no witnesses, nothing. Not even at night. Just a clean house. So if Charlotte is sleeping at 9am and Paul runs out and does errands and comes back later in the afternoon and doesn't see her there I can see that. That batty mother of hers may have just called again and Charlotte decided to pop over. I can see not being alarmed when she isn't home. And the idea that Charlotte's mother called repeatedly times she thought Paul was home is not concrete either. If Paul was home, and he was innocent, I can totally understand him not wanting to pick up the phone for the, I don't know, 14th time! And if he disposed of her body he was bad at it. Leaving her purse behind and finding it himself. Alerting the parents Saturday evening about her being gone and not knowing where she is. I just don't know if he was that bright to do this. But then it begs the question if Paul didn't kill Charlotte then who made her disappear? The Alex Cooper segment always makes me think it is possible that someone leaves their family behind. Charlotte may have done this. Remember, Alex Cooper's family didn't think he'd left initially either. |

I still feel that Paul killed her, I don't think it was a "planned" murder, more like an argument gone wrong type of crime, then after he killed her, he called mommy and daddy to help cover it up. I don't think the kids witnessed it (like Charlotte's mom claimed)

Paul being weird isn't evidence. With someone like Larry Gibson you can paint a picture as to what happened. You can suggest a potential timeline and build a case circumstantially. I don't know if you can even do this with Paul. |

There could be other scenarios. Charlotte took off on her own to start a new life. She had a new flame. I don't buy that it could be a robbery because her purse was there. But to me the lack of physical evidence is staggering in this case and just because Paul can be standoffish doesn't mean it is guilt. |

Paul panicking after killing Charlotte; intentional or accidental and then having help (most likely from his family members) clean up is the most likely scenario. But I cannot shake the feeling that when Paul and the kids were gone, someone known to them went inside the house not realizing that Charlotte was home, she sees them and recognizes them, and they have to remove her from the house at gunpoint.
