And by the end of the decade, the air out for the grunge/post-grunge rock balloon had been let out and hip-hop/R&B and Disney pop ruled the charts with an iron fist. If someone thought that Kurt Cobain's death was a faked-suicide conspiracy to make that happen, no jury would ever convict that person!

Personally, I think Kurt decided to off himself when he saw Madonna on David Letterman's show the week before and realize that the false-MTV-idol culture he was waging war against was too daunting an enemy to fight.

You hear that sort of thing in a lot of places. That's not my milieu. Rock and roll is good-time music. I love rock. So did my parents.

Cobain was a depressed heroin addict who was also in a toxic relationship with his wife, Courtney.

No reason to bring Madonna into it other than for your intense dislike of her.

I just stumbled upon this on YouTube.

This short video clip from 60 Minutes aired in April of 1994 shortly after Kurt Cobain's death. In his recurring 60 Minutes segment "A Few Minutes with Andy Rooney", the aging broadcaster goes on a mean spirited rant about Kurt Cobain's death and his life.
Andy Rooney right out of the gate tells the viewers that prior to his death, he had never heard of Kurt Cobain nor his band, Nirvana.

Andy Rooney right out of the gate tells the viewers that prior to his death, he had never heard of Kurt Cobain nor his band, Nirvana.
Rooney later apologized on the air for his essay, adding that he got letters evenly for and against him. "These are the letters for me," he said, pointing to a small pile of letters. "These are the letters against me," he then said, pointing to a stack of letters that went nearly to the ceiling.

Rooney had wondered in his essay how much Cobain could have done in his life if he'd lived longer.. Two weeks after Cobain was found dead, former President Richard Nixon died.

Cobain had been 27 when he killed himself. Nixon was 81 when he died. Do the math: Nixon lived three times as long as Cobain, yet Cobain probably did more good in 27 years than Nixon did in 81 years. Sure, Nixon nationalized intercity passenger rail, created the Environmental Protection Agency, and enable girls to play, scholastic sports, but he also expanded the Vietnam War into Cambodia, overthrew the democratically elected government of Chile, and then there was, umm, that Watergate thing. You know, that Watergate thing.
