Why didn’t Frances Fisher have a bigger career?

First off, what does this have to do with Home Improvement, well she was originally cast as the wife Jill before getting replaced with Patricia Richardson.

These days, she’s probably best known for playing the mother in Titanic, but she seems to have had a rather sporadic career. She’s had bit parts in various movies and has done some television movies as well. She appeared in an early episode of Roseanne as a bartender at the Lobo.

I liked Frances Fisher as a series regular in Resurrection, ABC's sci-fi drama from 2014-2015 that did really well in season one despite airing against The Walking Dead. But she would have been totally wrong for Home Improvement.

About why Francis Fisher was replaced in the first place, the producers wouldn't cast her because they felt that she came off as too much of a victim in the role, (i.e. "Please don't try to fix the dishwasher. Oh no........"). But Tim Allen wanted to hire her to play his wife so that he could hang around her boyfriend Clint Eastwood when he visited the set.

The only two films from her that I have seen is Wild America which starred Jonathan Taylor Thomas and she was also in Gone In 60 Seconds with Nicholas Cage.
