The actress originally cast as Topanga in Boy Meets World comes forward and says she was fired because a director didn't think she was pretty enough.

The Morgan’s are a cool family. Skippy from Family Ties actually lives in their back yard in a converted shed.

I can kind of see why they were reluctant to go with a girl like Bonnie Morgan:

It isn't like that she isn't cute or pretty in her own right, it's just that it's obvious that she has an extremely quirky look and vibe about her. She would at the time, probably have been more suitable for the role of say, Topanga's sidekick/best friend (think for example, Kimmie Gibbler on Full House) than Cory's love interest. Bonnie Morgan later became an accomplished contortionist, so it kind of comes with the territory.

And I guess with Topanga, they wanted somebody who was more in-line with the traditional "girl next door" look at the time (baby faced with big blue eyes, full lips, heart shaped face with “doll” like features). Think for example, Kellie Martin on Life Goes On, Tracey Gold on Growing Pains, Tiffani-Amber Theissen on Saved by the Bell, Candace Cameron on Full House, and Danica McKeller on The Wonder Years. So I'm guessing that was in part, why they ultimately went with Danielle Fishel.

If Bonnie had that red hair back when the show first started, I wonder if her dying it another color would've made any difference.

I never heard about Bonnie Morgan being up for the Topanga role until recently. I could've sworn that I read that Marla Sokoloff was originally in-line to play her before they ultimately cast Danielle Fishel. I had to check on Google just to make sure that it wasn't something that I imagined or misremembered.

Been a fan of boy meets world over 22 years 2003 never heard of that about her almost being fired because of her physical appearance to Hollywood
