Ten years ago today, we lost the incredible Yvonne Craig—actress, dancer, and the unforgettable Batgirl in the 1967–68 season of Batman. 💜🦇
Star Trek fans will also remember her as Marta, the green-skinned Orion in “Whom Gods Destroy” (1969). Interestingly, she was once considered for the role of Vina in “The Cage”—a role that ultimately went to Susan Olive.

Born in Taylorville, Illinois, Craig’s career was as versatile as it was dazzling: from Gidget and The Gene Krupa Story on the big screen, to guest roles in classics like Fantasy Island, Land of the Giants, Dr. Kildare, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Mannix.

She also shared the screen with Elvis Presley in It Happened at the World’s Fair (1963) and Kissin’ Cousins (1964). Off-screen, she was even romantically linked to him in the early 1960s.

After retiring from acting, Craig built a successful career in real estate—but her legacy as Batgirl and beyond continues to inspire generations.
