Like say Annie Potts (with Young Sheldon and the recent Ghostbusters sequels) or Jean Smart (with Hacks, Fargo, and Mare of Easttown)? I hope that this doesn't come across as a strawman argument, but I kind of thought about this after seeing Jean Smart guest host the Season 50 premiere of Saturday Night Live. Delta Burke was actually the first Designing Women cast member to guest host SNL, which she did back in 1991.

I think she burned a lot of bridges and stepped on a lot of toes to prove how much better she was than everyone else. Perhaps I'm being harsh, but I recall that she was unbearable to work with. I think a lot of your success is dependent on your ability to do your job. Lots of people gripe about the smallest nonsequential things like an olive in your salad. I also understand that DB was struggling with meth addiction.

The last mainstream attempt I remember (because I was anxious to see if it would work) was her playing the First Lady on the NBC sitcom DAG from 2000-2001. Years later I realized they were trying to rekindle the Anthony/Suzanne dynamic but it just fell....FLAT. David Alan Grier wasn't particularly funny and Delta's character was extremely limited to just being in her wing with her purse dog. It was a trainwreck and I'm sure she never thinks of it. If I were her I wouldn't either....
