https://www.tmz.com/2018/12/20/90210...-austin-green/
Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering and Brian Austin Green were spotted having coffee today in photos obtained by TMZ. "Our sources say the 90210 alums and a couple writers and producers met with execs at Netflix, Amazon and Hulu to pitch the idea of bringing the 'Bev Hills' drama back to TV ... almost 30 years after it all began," says TMZ, adding: "No word if other series stars Luke Perry or Shannen Doherty are involved in the project, but with the massive successes of other '90s reboots lately ... they might want to call their agents." Spelling first let slip that a reboot was in the works in an Instagram post in March. Deadline's Nellie Andreeva further reports: "I hear the scripted project, from CBS TV Studios, features the actors reprising their characters two decades later but is not a traditional reboot. I hear the new Beverly Hills, 90210 comes from writers/executive producers Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini, who worked on the CW’s 90210 reboot and on Spelling’s series So Notorious, as well as CBS TV Studios-based Ghen Maynard who has a relationship with Spelling and Garth and executive produces the new series." Report: Beverly Hills, 90210 "reboot" isn't a reboot -- it's a "mockumentary-style dramedy" The TV series that alumni of the classic teen drama were shopping around last month is, according to TV Line's Michael Ausiello, "an hour-long mockumentary-style dramedy that would find former 90210 cast members Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris playing themselves — albeit in a somewhat heightened state. The potential series — which was first rumored last March — would chronicle the gang’s efforts to get (another) 90210 revival off the ground." |

Fox, CBS, ABC and CBS All Access are all reportedly vying for the Beverly Hills, 90210 reunion series
A deal is expected soon, according to Deadline, pointing to Tori Spelling's series of interviews Friday about what she's calling a "mockumentary." “It is the O.G. crew back together, and we are playing a heightened version of ourselves," she said on Access Live. "The fans will be pleasantly surprised because we will intercut that with scenes from the show.” Spelling also said that Luke Perry, who is busy with Riverdale, is expected to participate in a limited capacity. |

"90210" Event Series with Original Cast Members Lands at Fox for Summer
by Nellie Andreeva February 27, 2019 It’s official — Fox has closed a deal for the new series reuniting original "Beverly Hills, 90210" cast members Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling. Titled "90210", the show, from CBS TV Studios, has received a six-episode order to air this summer. Fox was described as being “the most passionate” about the project, a serialized drama – with a dose of irreverence — inspired by the sextet’s real lives and relationships, in which Priestley, Garth, Ziering, Carteris, Green and Spelling will play heightened versions of themselves. “Beverly Hills, 90210 left an indelible impact on pop culture and an entire generation,” said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn. “Its powerful legacy is an important part of our network’s DNA – bold stories not told anywhere else and bigger-than-life-characters – and we’re honored to bring back the beloved original cast members for 90210.” https://deadline.com/2019/02/90210-e...on-1202566002/ |

Fox's Beverly Hills, 90210 revival will honor Luke Perry in some way
CBS TV Studios president David Stapf said at the INTV Conference that the Fox revival will find a way to honor Perry, but “how we deal with that moving forward is yet to be determined. That’s something the writers are going to have to figure out.” |

Shannen Doherty signs on for Fox's Beverly Hills, 90210 event series, now called BH90210
Doherty and Luke Perry were the only stars of the original cast of the 1990s teen series who were missing when Fox announced the summer event series on Feb. 27. On that same morning, Perry suffered a massive stroke and died five days later. Doherty will also serve as executive producer on the six-episode BH90210, which will have the cast playing versions of themselves. "The new 90210 is described as a serialized drama – with a dose of irreverence — inspired by the septet’s real lives and relationships," according to Deadline. "Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Shannen, Jason (Priestley), Jennie (Garth), Ian (Ziering), Gabrielle Carteris), Brian (Austin Green) and Tori (Spelling) — who will play heightened versions of themselves — reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot up and running." Beverly Hills, 90210 alums post pictures from the first BH90210 table read “Working hard! Can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to!” Gabrielle Carteris captioned an Instagram photo featuring Shannen Doherty, Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Brian Austin Green and Ian Ziering. The six-episode Fox event series BH90210 airs this summer. |

Tiffani Thiessen, not an original but on for 5 seasons as a main character, was interviewed on Live with Kelly and Ryan. Kelly asked her if she would be on the 90210 reboot. She said no and quickly changed subject to say she has a Netflix show, Alexa and Katie.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6t8bP9RZuM Apparently there is not good relations between her and Jennie Garth & Tori Spelling. While I'd rather see Tiffani than Tori, Tiffani wasn't an original. With Shannen Doherty signing on, I wonder if James Eckhouse and Carol Potter will appear as well. I'd rather see the Walsh family, like the focus of early seasons, and see Brandon and Brenda with their parents as well, than too much of Jennie and Tori. But the latter two carried the show when the Walsh family left. |

Tori Spelling on Beverly Hills, 90210 revival BH90210: We wanted to "cause noise and be groundbreaking just like our original show"
Spelling and Jennie Garth say the revival was a chance to bring their close friendship back to the TV screen. "We wanted to do something different, and we wanted to do something that would cause noise and be groundbreaking just like our original show was back in the ‘90s," says Spelling. "And that’s when together we came up with this version." Garth adds: "The premise of this show, it’s about the characters behind the characters. It’s inside the lives of people that lived in those shoes for those 10 years, and it’s about them coming back together. It’s really hard to do that show justice in a reboot, so we didn’t want to even try. We wanted to come at it with a totally different, fresh perspective, while still honoring the show and paying homage to all the characters that the fans are going to really love." Spelling says her character was "actually I think the hardest character to write for everyone, because there is so much public fodder, tabloid fodder about my life. I think definitely everyone was wanting to poke fun at themselves and poke fun at the image that other people have of them." ALSO: |

I'm still confused. Are they playing there characters? I mean on the show will we see Jason Priestley or Brandon Walsh? Jennie Garth or Kelly Taylor?

BH90210 is already experiencing behind-the-scenes "drama" as showrunner and writers abruptly quit
"There is drama behind the scenes of Fox’s upcoming Beverly Hills, 90210 revival that is worthy of — well, Beverly Hills, 90210," reports Variety. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith and several senior writers have quit, with staff writer Paul Sciarrotta taking over showrunning duties along with creators Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler. "The exact reason for the exodus is unclear," Variety adds. "One source said the dispute was over interference from two of the show’s lead actresses, while another noted that the writers were unhappy with one of the executives overseeing the project." Shannen Doherty slams rumor linking her to BH90210 showrunner and several writers quitting Variety reported that showrunner Patrick Sean Smith and several senior writers may have exited the Beverly Hills, 90210 revival series "over interference from two of the show’s lead actresses." But Variety didn't name any names. When another publication alleged that Doherty was one of the culprits, she responded on Instagram: “Being a part of tv history is an honor but it also comes with some massive backlash. There has been many stories floating around about this show and me. One of the reasons I hesitated to say yes was for this crap. The only thing I’m a control freak over is my health. Trying to stay healthy and positive.” |
