Question Was Season 7 when the show's quality really started to drop

There was the decidedly dull (https://moviechat.org/tt0078638/Knot...be-more-boring) Empire Valley (http://www.knotsblogging.com/2018/02...-of-knots.html) storyline (https://sites.google.com/site/theall...rst-storylines) and the awfully stale Joshua/Cathy storyline (https://thatsallsiknow.blogspot.com/...-season-7.html) and writing for the Joshua character was just not good.

Also, it's never really explained why Laura has stayed broken up with Greg. The show (http://www.knotsblogging.com/2018/01...44-change.html) doesn't do very well at reminding us why we should care about Laura when they barely do.

It was also the season that Lorimar went (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031...otslanding.htm) from that cinematic film stock to that cheap looking film stock.

Yes. Lorimar swapping lead producers between Dallas and Knots Landing proved to be a grave mistake.

One has to understand that at that particular time Lorimar was about to merge with Telepictures to create a bunch of schmaltzy suffocating family sitcoms such as Valerie and that oddball Perfect Strangers along with their first-run syndication series resurrected from cancellation i.e. It's A Living and Mama's Family. Lorimar was so focused on these programs that their soaps became back burner priorities. Seeing the soaps switch from glorious film to editing on videotape was one of the worst things ever done to TV. Everyone who watched noticed it and Lorimar wasn't about to do a damned thing about it. Dynasty remained purely on film until 1987...they were the last to switch formats. Regarding the stories in season 7 I hated how everything became about Joshua. Even after his demise they still kept on talking about him until there was a point when Lilimae was finally not in any scenes and the show took a noticeable breather. However by that time it seemed like they just didn't know what to do anymore with their main couples and the whole Mack/Jill/Gary thing was just weird. Greg and Laura were just "meh" Val and Ben were always on the brink of folding. Gary started doing impulsive childish things. The whole year was a mess. I hated it and the show never recovered.
