Paramount+ has canceled the crime drama "Happy Face" after its first season, with the news confirmed approximately two months after the season finale aired on May 1, 2025. The series, from "The Good Wife" and "Evil" creators Robert and Michelle King, was based on the true story of Melissa G. Moore, whose father was the infamous serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson, also known as the "Happy Face Killer". The cancellation comes despite the show's basis in a true-crime podcast and autobiography, "Shattered Silence," and the involvement of prominent actors like Annaleigh Ashford and Dennis Quaid. "Happy Face" reportedly did not make Nielsen's Streaming Originals Top 10 during its run, and it was one of the few Paramount+ originals not tied to existing IP or Taylor Sheridan's universe, which may have contributed to the decision. |
