Default 'Andy Barker, P.I.' Premieres Thu, Mar. 15, 2007 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC!

Premiere Date: Thursday, March 15, 2007 (NBC Universal Television Studio and Conaco)
Network: NBC
Time: Thursdays at 9:30 PM ET/PT
Cast: Andy Richter, Clea Lewis, Tony Hale, Harve Presnell, Marshall Manesh

Andy Richter ("Late Night with Conan O'Brien") re-teams with Conan O'Brien (series co-creator and executive producer) in this comedy as he portrays Andy Barker, an earnest, hard-working CPA who has succeeded at everything -- until his new accounting business fails to take off. But when he's mistaken for Lew Staziak (Harve Presnell, "Fargo"), the retired private detective who used to occupy his storefront office, Andy embraces the twist of fate and dives into his double life.

Andy's relentlessly supportive wife Jen (Clea Lewis, "Ellen") isn't sold on this risky new venture, that is, until she notices a sudden boost in Andy's self-confidence. Andy's fellow strip mall neighbors -- Simon (Tony Hale, "Arrested Development") and Wally (Marshall Manesh, "Will & Grace") join him in the dicey investigations.

This comedy series was created by O'Brien and former "Late Night" head writer Jonathan Groff ("Ed"), who executive-produce the series with Jeff Ross and David Kissinger. "Andy Barker, P.I." is from NBC Universal Television Studio and Conaco. The pilot was directed by Jason Ensler ("The West Wing").

I thought this was a really good show. I hope it's around to stay.

I have a feeling this show won't be coming back next season. The ratings for the pilot weren't very good. It's a shame too cause it's actually a pretty good show. Great supporting cast, especially Simon. The car chase scene was great. It's not really a laugh out loud comedy so it will probably turn some people off but it is clever. I just hope NBC doesn't cancel this show.

I can't say I'm a huge Andy Richter fan, I liked him when he was a sidekick on Conan, but I never cared for his other sitcoms. He's great on this show though.

Another great thing about this show is the music. I loved how they used "Eye of the Tiger" at the end of the pilot episode.

I agree with Skywalker, i dont think this show is going to make it next season.
there is nothing catchy about the show, nothing funny really. and conan o brien is a great talent. i am disappointed in this show.

Did anyone watch tonight's episode? The interaction between Simon and Lew was great. I was wondering when those two would finally have some scenes together. The best part was when Simon went nuts and told everyone at the party that the chicken was poisoned, reminded me of Buster from "Arrested Development". And Andy had a great one liner "Mother Hubbard".

I was wrong about it not being a laugh out loud comedy, cause the past 2 episodes were hilarious. It's one of the few shows I look forward to watching every week and it's definitely the best new sitcom this season. I still don't think it will be coming back next season but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The first episode was very funny, especially for a pilot, although Richter and Conan did work on some project way-back-when I hope it gets better ratings that Arrested Development did.

Short-Lived Sitcom Potpourri (XXIV) – Mid-2000s MSTV Flops

Quote:
Thoughts: With an outstandingly fun cast and amiable scripts penned by funny writers, Andy Barker P.I. is a jolly show to watch. But it’s just not poised to be excellent sitcommery – it’s inherently a story-driven procedural with a case-of-the-week format. This demands a type of storytelling that tends to crowd out the main characters and other established elements of a “situation” beyond the basic high-concept premise itself.
