Question Did Shelley Long wear a wig

Kind of like what Mary Tyler Moore did on her show! Or was Diane's huge feathered flip natural?

This is definitely not a wig:

(No-one wears a blonde wig with dark-colored roots)

But some of her other 'dos, later in the series, and on Frasier, could definitely be wigs:

Her hair sure was pretty. If it was a wig, it was a very good one.

I just saw Diane's final appearance on Cheers - i.e. the three-parter finale (S11), when she has thick blonde hair. I would be surprised if she wasn't wearing a wig here - it looked a lot thicker than when she starred on the show in the first 5 seasons. No way to verify this, however.

She wore wigs on the set of Cheers to protect her hair from the hot lights on set.

She only wears a wig when her toupee is out for cleaning.

Ted Danson wore a partial toupee to cover the bald spot on the back of his head. Very courageously, he even took it off on the show for everyone to see his denuded head.

Can you imagine William Shatner, Steve Martin or the late Howard Cosell doing that live on television?

Ali once pretended he'd be lifting up Cosell's toupee, but didn't go very far.

I liked when the late, great comedian Rip Taylor would come out on stage and say in reference to his highly questionable head of hair:

“Is it on right?”
