Young Sheldon's series finale won't leave viewers "wallowing in grief"

Showrunner Steve Holland says tonight’s series finale originally intended to feature George Sr.'s funeral — until co-creator Chuck Lorre stepped in. "As we were talking about it, it was Chuck who said, 'This show has been such a positive family show,'" Holland tells EW. "'Let's not leave the audience wallowing in grief. Let's give them a little bit of ramp out of it, not do that in the finale, and give the finale room to have a little bit more hope to it.' That's how those last two episodes shifted out."

Say, what did you think about the potential for there not being enough time to decently wrap-up Young Sheldon 's storylines before Spring of 2024 because of season seven having just 14 episodes? The Strikemageddon-induced shortening of YS's seventh season would have meant an eighth season for YS, but no, YS has to wrap at season seven no matter what. If there were so many fans writing to CBS about wanting an eighth season for YS, that would have meant a failure to respect the producers' decision to end the series. And, just out of curiosity, how well were YS's storylines handled that season-order reduction?

The final season ended up being pretty good even without a full 22 episodes. Biggest problem that was not resolved was Meemaw's probation. Octavia Spencer guest starred as Meemaw's probation officer once but we could have used another episode with her.
