John Turturro is game for gritty material, but he has to draw a line somewhere.

"I did what I wanted to with the role,” he told Variety of his crime boss Carmine Falcone in 2022's The Batman. But for the upcoming spinoff series, "The Penguin", "There was a lot of violence towards women, and that’s not my thing.”

But he found The Batman's Falcone tolerable because the violence he inflicts "happens off-screen and it’s scarier that way," he reasoned.
