TV NBC Officially Passes on "Mockingbird Lane" Series

NBC Officially Passes on "Mockingbird Lane"
by Vlada Gelman
12/27/12

"Mockingbird Lane" proved to be a dead end.

NBC has decided not to order to series the reboot of "The Munsters", which had been shepherded by Bryan Fuller.

“I tweet with a heavy heart,” Fuller said on Thursday. “NBC not moving forward with #MockingbirdLane. From producers and cast, thank you all for enthusiasm and support.”

The "Mockingbird Lane" pilot — which NBC aired as a pre-Halloween special — drew 5.4 million total viewers and a 1.5 rating, giving the network its best demo in the Fridays-at-8 time slot in two years.

I think it would have worked better had it been only a half hour show. I liked what I seen they also could have cut back on the effects as well.

Too bad, not!

I think you are right comedyfreak, a 1/2 hour might have been better for it.

Sorry to hear that. I was pleasantly surprised. Perhaps another network might pick it up?

I think a large part of the problem of it too was the HORRIBLE casting. It is a sitcom, and should have been done as such.

Thank goodness for that, hopefully this is the last we'll hear of this. Leave the classic shows alone, nothing can ever compare to the original. Remakes are always garbage.

The special effects were pretty cool but the over-all show was much darker than the original Munsters. It wasn't really so bad, it was just different.

Default Could this have happened?

"We just can't afford it", said an NBC Universal executive. "All of our money is tied up in 'HANNIBAL', 'REVOLUTION', 'CELEBRITY APPRENTICE', and 'THE BIGGEST LOSER'. That's what viewers want to see-----"

{an unseen hand, holding an ax, chops off the executive's head in mid-sentence}

"He was a loudmouth, anyway", another NBC Universal executive commented. "We couldn't afford him, either."

Thank heavens NBC pulled the plug on this one, as it was one of "the worst" sitcoms they came up with.
Dont' know what NBC was thinking!!

Default Good!

The networks need to be, more creative and leave the, " classics" alone! There's only one, Herman and that's Fred Gwynne! One Lylie, Yvonne De Carlo and one Grandpal, Al Lewis! I refuse to, watch this show any other way!

The mistake was not trying to revive the show in its original format, instead of trying to make it "The Munsters" meet "True Blood". And the casting was terrible!
