I found a show called "All is Forgiven " starring Bess Armstrong. Her character was a smoker. That show ran for nine episodes in 1986. Would that be the last sitcom with this?

I have one source saying Peg Bundy smoked through Season 4, which would reach to 1990.
Edit: Bill McNeal on Newsradio is presented as a smoker in at least three episodes, 1995-98. As above, you have specific episodes about smoking, as with Chandler. How I Met Your Mother had "Last Cigarette Ever," in 2009. |

John Becker from Becker (1998-2004) was regularly seen smoking.

Wow, how could I forget Becker. That's one of my favorite shows. Funny how he hid his cigarettes in the cash register at the diner. Plus the character was a doctor. I always found it odd seeing doctors smoke. Hennessey was one of the first I remember being a smoker.

Schneider was practically always seen with a pack of cigarettes rolled up in the sleeve of his T-shirt, though I don't recall seeing him smoke.

I have always wondered back in the days of cigarette ads on TV were there ever any episodes of shows sponsored by tobacco companies in which character A offered character B a ciggie only for the latter to say that he or she doesn't smoke.

I'm sure it's happened. What I found odd was Robert Young's character on Father Knows Best smoked in the first episode but not after that. The show was sponsored by Kent cigarettes.
