She was removed from A Different World because Bill Cosby didn’t want a pregnant Denise and didn’t think it would be feasible to hide her pregnancy like they did with Phylicia Rashad on The Cosby Show since Denise was the central character. Debbie Allen was brought in to overhaul the show in the second season and wanted Lisa Bonet to remain and be a pregnant college student. Cosby refused. On The Cosby Show, it is infamously revealed that Denise was a virgin on her wedding night by Denise’s husband Martin. This was probably Bill Cosby had a lot of pushback against Lisa Bonet and maybe Debbie Allen’s suggestion that Denise Huxtable be an unwed mother.
