NEW YORK -- It will be exit Joan Collins, enter Jackie Mason on the new fall schedule ABC announced Monday.

Among the ABC shows that will be missing when the 1989-90 television season begins on Sept. 18 are 'Dynasty,' 'Hooperman' and 'Moonlighting,' whose cancellation was previously announced.

There will be nine hours of new programming in the fall, including six sitcoms, two hour-long dramas and one news show, tentatively titled 'Prime Time With Sam and Diane,' starring Sam Donaldson and Diane Sawyer.

The new shows, with their times listed in Eastern time, are:

'Life Goes On,' Sunday, 7-8 p.m. Patti LuPone stars in the warm story of a working class family with five children, one of whom is a plucky 18-year-old with Down's syndrome.

'Free Spirit,' Sunday, 8-8:30 p.m. A divorced attorney moves from New York City to Connecticut where he hires a young, attractive and vivacious housekeeper who is a witch.

'Homeroom,' Sunday, 8:30-9 p.m. A teacher copes with his fourth grade inner city class, but not with the father of his medical student wife. Pa-in-law doesn't approve of anything he does.

'From This Moment On,' Tuesday, 9:30-10 p.m. Jackie Mason stars as 52-year-old Jackie Fischer, who has quit his job of over 20 years as a top salesman for a New York City pajama manufacturer. His new career, helping at a community center, introduces him to Lynn Redgrave as a quite attractive Irish widow with three kids. Also in the mix is Jackie's very opinionated mother. This one is a sure thing because it follows 'Roseanne.'

'Doogie Howser,' Wednesday, 9:30-10 p.m. The title character is a 16-year-old genius who is a second-year resident at a major hospital. This is from Steven Bochco Productions, which produced 'Hill Street Blues' and 'L.A. Law.' The genius kid is played by Neil Patrick Harris, whose parents are James B. Sikking and Belinda Montgomery.

'The Kid,' Thursday, 9-10 p.m. This is a western that takes place in the 1860s before the completion of the railroads, when brave, young orphaned men rode the Pony Express.

'Prime Time With Sam and Diane,' Thursday, 10-11 p.m. That's a working title and the show is scheduled to premiere Aug. 3.

'Family Matters,' Friday, 8:30-9 p.m. Jo Marie Payton-France spins off her 'Perfect Strangers' character, elevator operator Harriet Winslow, into a family sitcom.

'Living Dolls,' Saturday, 8:30-9 p.m. This time it's a spinoff of 'Who's The Boss?' in which Michael Learned heads a model agency and takes charge of four beautiful but temperamentally different girls. ABC promises frequent guest appearances by Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano from the parent show.

The only survivor out of the many late entries with which ABC experimented during the past season is 'Anything But Love,' starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Richard Lewis. It will air Wednesday, 9-9:30 p.m.
