Default SNL and John Ritter

I'am really surprised that John Ritter was never asked to guest host on "Saturday Night Live" I think he would have been so funny and great at doing those comedy skits, I wondered why they never invited him, especially during the time when Three's Company was a hit in the ratings? Does anybody knows why? I'am thinking in his entire career this great actor and comedian was never a guest host on that show, it's unbelievable!

I know, it's a pity that he didn't host anything... he would've been a GREAT host. He's someone that EVERYONE knows from one reason or another...

Yeah, I've wondered that, too. It'd be cool to see my favorite actor on another one of my favorite shows. It would have been awesome if he hosted it.

You read my mind! I was thinking this days after his death

WHY didn't they get John a FEW Times!!! Do you think Billy Crystal stopped it because John beat him out for the 3's Co.. role???

hmmm???

John should have been on there 3 or 4 times! He can do Physical Comedy better then Chevy.. plus act.. plus be silly

BIG MISTAKE

I was just thinking that also...he would have been perfect! He was always good when he hosted things...

Wow, it feels really weird to say "was" and words in the past tense...

there are so many specials that he would have been great making an apearence on! I always though he would have done a great job hosting the recent "I Love the 70's" VH1 Special.

Somebody recently posed this question on Reddit, especially given how popular Three's Company was. Three's Company in itself, was almost like a sketch show or at the very least, shot like a one act play. I think Don Knotts even compared the making of Three's Company to a sketch comedy show.

John's wife Amy Yasbeck offered to guest host on Saturday Night Live but he always turned it down because he didn’t think he’d do a good monologue and was freaked out by the live aspect.

I'm surprised he was freaked out about the live aspect of it. He starred on Broadway with Henry Winkler doing Neil Simon's The Dinner Party in 2000. There's no second takes on Broadway and he did great. He even won an award for that show.
