Default Should Alan Thicke and Growing Pains be boycotted forever? Yes or no?

I haven't been here in eight long years, but this subject alone made me consider making a return.

Recently, a 4-episode Investigation Discovery documentary called Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV aired, and I watched the whole thing. During the lead-up to the documentary, Business Insider did an article about about people who supported convicted child molester Brian Peck, and one of the people was none other than the Dad on Growing Pains himself, Alan Thicke, who died in 2016.

The moment I read that, I suddenly had a flashback to 2015, when, in an interview in them Toronto Star, he publicly convicted Bill Cosby when he didn't even had his day in Court yet. Thicke said, and I quote: There is no doubt in my mind Bill Cosby was a bad boy. When there’s that much conversation. When there’s that much smoke, there must be some fire."

I don't care how much you people disagree with me on Cosby, and how much you believe Hollywood and the Media over him. What Thicke did was complete and total hypcorisy. You can't look at that and say that it wasn't hypocrisy.

P.S. As for why I haven't been here in eight years, another user called me an idiot because I believed (and still do, in fact) Cosby over Hollywood and the Media, the first people to convict him before he even had his day in Court. I felt insulted and hurt for daring to have a different opinion from Hollywood and the Media, and that was why I quit.

Joanna Kerns' name was also mentioned among the people who signed their names in support of Brian Peck. Although the documentary did list a subsequent quote from Joanna that basically said that she only did it based on misinformation.

Here's Joanna Kerns' initial letter of support for Brian Peck from 2004 in case you're wondering:

Another thing: It should be noted that he dated a 17-year-old Kristy Swanson. At the time, he was 40. Am I the only one who thought that was a little creepy?

The resurgence of a video on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, featuring a young Leonardo DiCaprio with Brian Peck, has sparked significant public discourse. Captured during DiCaprio's early career, the footage has prompted a flurry of reactions from viewers and the actor's fans. DiCaprio, who would later achieve worldwide acclaim through major film roles, is seen in the video at a more innocent phase of his life, alongside Peck, whose casual demeanor around the young actor has raised concerns.

The discomfort among viewers arises from the perceived vulnerability of DiCaprio at that time, given his youth and the nascent stage of his career. There is a prevailing concern that he might not have been fully cognizant of the nuances or potential issues embedded in his interactions with Peck. This concern is amplified by fans who speculate about the possible implications of these early interactions and DiCaprio's awareness of them.

The video's appearance on social media has reignited discussions about the historical treatment of young actors in Hollywood, leading to a broader dialogue about ensuring their safety and wellbeing. The dominant reaction is one of retrospective concern for DiCaprio, highlighting a collective desire to safeguard young talents within the entertainment industry against similar situations.

In a clip from "Quiet On Set," viewers can see that young Leonardo DiCaprio was seemingly close with Brian Peck -- and it's not setting well with fans.

IMDB lists about 700 people as credited on Growing Pains. If you boycott the show, you boycott all of them.

Admittedly though, there were a few "sketchy" people who worked behind the scenes on Growing Pains. I already mentioned Brian Peck but there, but who out there knows that Steven Kent Marshall, who was an executive producer for Growing Pains was caught, arrested, and later imprisioned for being in possession of CP back in 2009? It has also been pretty documented online now that Alan Thicke was "dating" Kristy Swanson when he was 40 and she was 17.
