Richard Lewis Confirms Return to Larry David’s "Curb Your Enthusiasm" for Season 12

Richard Lewis confirmed today that he will be back on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" for its 12th season on HBO.

“I’m back shooting Curb!,” Lewis tweeted today. “I’m a lucky cat to be with my oldest pal who just so happens to be a genius. Don’t tell him I called him that or he’ll mock me to my grave.”

Lewis, who has recurred as a fictionalized version of himself since the series’ first season in 2000, appeared only once during 2021’s Season 11 due to health issues (he was recuperating from several surgeries on his back and shoulders).

In his announcement today, Lewis kept mum on how many episodes he’ll shoot.

"Curb Your Enthusiasm's" Richard Lewis Announces Parkinson's Diagnosis

"Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s" Richard Lewis has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, he said in a video posted to Twitter on Sunday.

After detailing a period of several years in which he underwent three surgeries for other issues, he recalled a point two years ago when he was having trouble walking. The diagnosis of Parkinson’s, a progressive nervous-system disorder, came soon after.

“Luckily, I got it late in life, and they say it progresses very slowly, if at all, and I’m on the right meds, so I’m cool,” he said. He added that while his career as a stand-up comedian is over, “I’m just focusing on writing and acting.”

Earlier in the video, he commented that he recently wrapped his part in "Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s" upcoming Season 12.

“It was an amazing season,” he said, “and I’m so grateful to be part of that show.”

Curb Your Enthusiasm filmed Richard Lewis' final scenes three weeks before his death — he'll appear in the series finale

Showrunner Jeff Schaffer says the writers' and actors' strikes pushed back the remaining filming on Curb’s 12th and final season to earlier this year. “Three weeks to the day before he passed, we shot with him,” Schaffer tells The Hollywood Reporter of the late comedian and actor, who died Feb. 28 at age 76. “He looked great. He was moving around way better than he was when we were shooting the rest of the season. He was just excited and it was great. It was a bit of a shock. I’d say his body may have betrayed him, but his wit never wavered the entire time.” Schaffer adds: “He couldn’t have been more excited. He looked great." Lewis will appear in two more Curb episodes: Episode 8 on March 24 and the series finale on April 7.
