The Ten Best BECKER Episodes of Season Four

Season Four continues last year’s trend towards broader comic ideas, but now the balance has shifted so far off that it’s no longer maintaining the darker, cranky, cynical attitude that the show established as a reflection of its one well-defined lead — the eponymous Becker. This increase in laughs may make Four more palatable to a wider audience, but that early tone was a demonstration of its understanding of Becker’s character, who himself is no longer as well-featured in story, both because of this lighter ethos and the simple fact that he’s become less caustic and curmudgeonly. You might be tempted to call this evolution — the show’s identity is shifting with the character’s — but these changes aren’t earned by Becker’s actions or experiences.

Season 4 has some great episodes...that is until the arrival of "Chris"...unfortunately the writers really forced her character which became evident from her arrival through until the final episode...why did they ruin the show and have this undying need for the lead character to have a romantic interest...on top of that Reggie & Bob are gone...once Reggie went it was the shows death knell...season 5 & 6 had its moments...even with Reggie gone it could have worked...Bob could have stayed on and ran the diner and the writers could have explored other characters from prior seasons more eg. Anita the hooker...
