It could serve as a season or series finale. I included the plastic surgery sub plot in the event Robert Reed refused to come back. Another idea that might help the show get greenlit for a fictional 7th season, would be to have Carol call Alice on her honeymoon to let her know the Bunch is about to get bigger by 1.

Oh, yes. I meant to ask if the plastic surgery storyline meant it was a different actor playing Mike. Any idea who could have played Mike in the fictional 7th season?

I can leave the casting choices up to you and Stevea.

I thought about that but 19 episodes don't make a season in 1975.

Your original post included Robert Reed, but thinking about it, I can't imagine Sherwood would have brought him back after what happened with the graduation episode. You never know, though.

In the fan fiction world maybe Reed apologizes to Sherwood, and all is right in Brady land.

Yes, what I had read somewhere years ago was that if they did a sixth season, Robert Reed would have been fired and Mike Brady would have died. I decided not to go that extreme and I guess I figured that Sherwood and Reed worked out a deal to give him a two-part farewell episode. Of course, with the episode additions of you and Charles Knox, Robert Reed came back for a few episodes late in the season, and so I added that he was planning a full return next season but it didn't work out, and Sherwood fired him again.

So, if we did a fan fiction 7th season, Robert Reed would have to be permanently replaced and would need a new story, as mine only covered his absence for a year.

My vote is that he has had yet another run-in with Sherwood, and Sherwood kills him off while he's away. The show is renewed for the seventh season. Themes are that Alice must decide whether to stay on with the Bradys, but of course no longer as a live-in housekeeper. Marcia has graduated from high school, but her boyfriend is off to college in another state--she considers whether to follow him, but has missed the opportunity to attend college. Despite agreeing on the attic room last year, Peter and Jan still quarel over it when the time comes.

Or whatever anyone else decides as a broad outline, or maybe ABC decides to pull the plug after six seasons, after all.

Maybe ABC cancelled the show but NBC picked it up for a 7th season.

I had Tony Randall in season 6 for an episode as Mike and Fred's brother. I pretend like he was in a few more although he wasn't mentioned in any other episode descriptions, so perhaps he had only a small role in the episodes he was in. In 1975, The Odd Couple was over and so Randall can join the cast full-time.

Do you picture Marcia still being a part of the show? I only took Greg out last season because I wanted to mimic the My Three Sons cast change of eldest son Mike leaving and being replaced by the young Ernie. Would Greg be back for season 7? We have some things to figure out if you want to move forward with a fan fiction season 7. Now that I'm not in this alone, I'm much more interested in keeping it going, lol. Maybe we could have one of those backdoor pilots like the "Kelly's Kids" episode.

We know in real life, that Robert Reed came back for the variety special and the late 80's holiday movie and short lived show that followed. So someone filling in the Mike Brady role while he took a break, would in my opinion be the best temporary fix.

If there's a backdoor pilot, let's make it a good one this time!

Since all these kids are older now (except Oliver), there could be several subplots involving boyfriends/girlfriends.

Since Alice is now married and presumably has continued with the Bradys but now living off-prem, her story lines are now limited, and probably the character of Fred is rarely mentioned and written out. She's good for her normal wisecracks, except of course marriage takes away many of them. Maybe cousin Emma could be brought back for some more laughs as Alice and Fred take a vacation. Maybe Emma perceives Oliver as a wimp, and decides to lobby Carol to send him to military school.

Maybe a sensitive subject could be dealt with--Peter and Jan develop feelings for each other. How to deal with that, and is it really a problem since they are not blood-related in any way. Or is this "un-Bradylike" to even think of?

Tony Randall as Tony has possibilities--and isn't Odd Coupe over by now? He could become a major thorn in the side for the kids, since he could have Felix Unger's trait--a neatnick. He could be constantly correcting them to the point that they devise tricks to trip him up.

Like Uncle Charley on MTS, I figured Alice would still want to hang around and help with chores and maybe prepare lunch. There could even be an episode where Carol wants to hire a new maid, but Alice's fellings get hurt, or maybe she keeps butting in while the new maid is trying to work.

I figure Peter would develop an innocent crush on Marsha and have it
being played more for laughs. The crush would not really lead to anything serious, since it is a family show. Something like Peter getting rejected by girl he really wants to take to the senior prom, so Marsha tries to help him out with a pep talk and helping build up his confidence and some minor compliments. This would lead to Peter having a minor crush and by the end of the episode, realizing it was silly.

Yes, that's more Bradylike. ANd the crush on Marsha is more likely. When the other kids found out (if they did), Jan could say, "Here we go again. Marsha, Marsha, Marcha!"

So, here's what I'm thinking in regards to season 7 of The Brady Bunch. ABC picks the show up for one final season of 22 episodes (in the 1975-1976 season). Sherwood Schwartz fired Robert Reed but then Florence Henderson and Ann B. Davis walked unless he rehired him. Schwartz decided to make a compromise. He'd have Reed in 11 of the 22 episodes, placed throughout the season. That way, he only had to deal with him half the time. As a result, he's still only billed as a "Special Guest Star". Tony Randall becomes a regular. Barry Williams makes more guest appearances. Marcia goes to college but either goes to a local college and stays at home, or she just visits way more often than Greg and is in the majority of the episodes. The big change is that the show is shot in front of a live studio audience now. Don Knotts is still a regular as Fred Brady even though he and Alice live in their own house down the street. As a result, he's not featured in every episode but is billed for them all.

I'll work on some episodes later. I have a couple ideas for the first few episodes. And then after I post them, the two other showrunners (Charles Knox and stevea) can add their episode descriptions, too.
