The shots are slightly different--the small pictures are in both, but even the wall colors are totally wrong.

Of course, the good thing is that with most shows both versions are available, making everyone happy.

It's interesting that the non-colorized picture with Darrin didn't happen in the episode - he was never there with Samantha and Endora. Either it's a behind the scenes shot with York (possibly a publicity photo) or there was a different epilogue to the show where they did arrive Paris.

Another interesting bit about the episode is that Larry tells the operator to call Darrin's office number 555-6059. But a minute earlier Samantha called Darrin at the office and Elizabeth mostly dialed 1's and 2's on the prop phone.

Love Liz's hair like this the best. Perfect length and of course she looks great in that outfit. I like her hair shoulder length and no longer, no shorter. She was a stunner then.

Fascinating differences.

Colorized shows still basically suck. They don't get teeth right practically ever (they're usually not close to a natural teeth color of white or off white) and they have a hard time matching colors. When you watch a colorized Bewitched episode, notice what should be a military green colored front door or their phone - and it's actually a dark green they use for them. It's appalling that they didn't bother researching it enough to get it right. I'll take B&W over incorrect color any day. I have three or four copies of that 1964 TV Guide and upon seeing this colorized ep for the first time I was totally confused when I saw Liz. The outfit looked like the 1964 TV Guide cover but it's pink instead of the yellow it should be. Took me a while to realize they just got it all wrong. Sure hope they get it right one day while I'm still alive. If they can't, black and white is the way to go.

The natural photo is reminiscent of how the Lucy Shows DVDs looked for Seasons 2 and 3. These seasons were filmed in color but telecast in BW from 1963-65. The makeup, clothes and sets had to be in muted shades so that they would still photograph well in B&W. Certain things like Lucy and Viv's eyeshadow and the throw cushions on their sofa just popped while the walls and some of the furniture looked very drab. The same thing is going on here. I have both sets of Bewitched DVDs for Seasons 1 and 2, but I always watch the BW versions and I find the colorization off-putting. It's miles better than the dreadful colorized first season of Gilligan's Island, but still looks off.

I'm noticing that the backgrounds look "fake" more often in the colorized versions.

Nodsmiley Color Me World

Oh yes. Gray faces and Sam's gray hair and black and gray sky and interiors now they look real.
The colorization on Bewitched was merely perfect. Now my only wish is that Hazel and Dennis The Menace and ALL b/w shows would be colorized.

I would love to see Dennis The Menace in color. That would be amazing.

I’m kinda in the middle. I prefer the shows to be colorized. I just don’t think they did a very good job with this one example.

I happened to try watching Bewitched yesterday and today and I couldn't handle the colorization. The B & W should have stayed B & W. As I watched my brain kept telling me something was wrong. The same for I Dream of Jeannie a few weeks ago.

Something was definitely wrong with the first Bewitched episode today. The audio was several seconds different than the video.

That didn't help.
