I suppose no spionoff on Three's Company will live up to Three's Company.

How could the show have been boring with Jack Tripper in it? I think Boring is the Wrong word

Vicky might have been boring but the show wasn't because of Jack.

I loved the show and still do, as an eight year old at the time I didn't understand what a spin-off show was I just accepted the fact that Jack left the apartment to live with Vicki.

By spinning off, the show basically dumped all of the loyal supporting cast members. And the audience obviously wasn't happy about that.

The ratings were about the same as they were during the last season of TC and they were improving as the season went on. If ABC would have renewed it, it might have caught on. Who's the Boss was low rated during it's first season and GP which replaced TAC became a huge hit.- The biggest problem was the A-Team.

I was surprised at the huge drop in ratings from season 7 to 8. Season 7 it was #6 and season 8 it was #33. So TC couldnt compete with Riptide on NBC?lol That aired on NBC at 9pm and finished #18 after 1983-84 season

The whole ABC Tuesday night lineup was falling that year. HD was in it's last year and so was Hart to Hart. You had 2 awful sitcoms in the lineup in Just Our Luck and Oh Madeline. Just as HD and L&S had made TC a hit. The A-Team did the same with Riptide and Remington Steele.

As others have pointed out, the problem with Three's a Crowd is that when compared to Three's Company, it seemed very negative and I suppose, bitter and cynical. The show's premise was built on the idea of Jack's new girlfriend's refusing to marry him because of her own parents' divorce. And then, we have said girlfriend's father really hating Jack and doing anything that he could (whether it be through lies or manipulation) to try and break them up.
